Badge Suggestions?

So after 4 years of requesting a badge / experience type system, we finally have something like it.

You can see all of the badges and how to get them here: https://community.wemod.com/badges

To get the badges on the bottom you must earn a trust level, read more about that here: https://meta.discourse.org/t/what-do-user-trust-levels-do/4924/2

So we can add as many badges as we want and they can be for reaching certain milestones.
For example, we could have then for

  • reaching 50 likes
  • replying to X amount of topics
  • using 10 games in Infinity

Let’s hear your suggestions!

So it looks like I need to be a ‘regular member’ to change my name? I thought that was one of the perks of having diamond?

You’re so passive agressive haha. You can change your username here: http://wemod.com/account

I was just curious man. Still trying to figure all of this out

No worries. The point of trust levels is the more active and engaged you are the more power you get. At trust level 3 for example:

  • recategorize and rename topics
  • access a private “lounge” category only visible to users at trust level 3 and higher
  • have all their links followed (we remove automatic nofollow)
  • spam flags cast on TL0 user posts immediately reach the action threshold
  • Daily like limit increased by 2 ×

Maybe do some like KAT? Visit each day for an entire week?

Well this is definitely going to take some getting used to. So far so good though and everything looks nice and clean just very bland.

Looks good. Definitely implement the Likes badges. It’ll replace my need for achieving 500 thanks on the old site.

Simple ones like getting likes, post count, profile views are cool. Being active in topic-specific forums would be cool idea. For example; majority posts in PC forum > "PC Enthusiast , majority posts in xbox forum > “Xbox enthusiast”. Idk what you’d use for the general forum but you get the idea.

Also, I think it would be funny to have “anti-badges”, like inactive for 30 days you get “slacker” or if you’re active for so many days, and you view threads but don’t post at all you get a “creeper” badge. Lol I know that doing that would be promoting site inactivity so that’s probably not a good idea, but funny. ;p

A badge for posting at least once a day for a year.

Possibly title it something like “365” or “No Days Off”

Continuing the discussion from Badge Suggestions?:

I agree with this awesome idea

We are more looking for badges that are unique where they can’t just be obtained for doing something that simple.

It’s not that simple, at least not the year long one. I get where you’re coming from but a year is a long time. Only the hardcore loyal members and staff are going to be on here EVERY single day and post at that.

At the moment the only members I can see being active every day with posts so far in 2015 are you, myself and probably Zodiac. Maybe a few others but I don’t know, we had some really slow months in '15.

Just an idea. I do think the year long one is a good one.

I was referring to the visit everyday for a week.

I like the year long idea. Just gotta figure out a nice SQL query for it.

A solution plugin was added to the support forums. We can have a badge for a certain number of accepted answers.

So even though im here over 5 years, been staff and beta tester etc I’m still not trusted enough?

How does the trust level get allocated is it automatic or do you have to manually do it?

Reporter badge for flagging spam.

Bug finder badge if you find a bug and or fix in in horizon or infinity.

Is that the sort of thing you’re looking?

Trust levels are completely automated except for level 4.

I like the bug finder idea. I don’t think it can be automated, but we can have a few manual ones.

Some kind of badge for people who have been a Diamond member for a certain tenure collectively; 1 year or 2 years, etc.

I like the idea for badges for likes, posts etc, now that we don’t have them next to our names. Would maybe appease those who care about that thing.

I also like the idea of a ‘most valued contributer’ or along that lines rank. Similar to Epic on XMB/HMB, but only given out to a select few members, who have contributed greatly towards the site in some way over a period and perhaps never got promoted to staff or a lot of recognition. Just some way of recognition towards contributing to the site and it’s members. Maybe this would fall into trust level 3, I don’t know, just spitballing, it’s hard to come up with original ideas.

My only other suggestion I can think of is ‘event badges’ for example, all who signed on during the launch of the new site would get it, or other random events in the future, even being part of community events or contests; something along those lines.

Also Dale says he wants his retired staff badge back, who the hell even promoted him anyway?
