I have been using Avast and it has started deleting files from my computer that I don’t want it to. It has deleted games from steam and programs I need for my Java coding. I tried adding exceptions and nothing works. So I am looking to switch. Any recommendations?

I am not sure, it just has been deleting files recently and it’s getting on my nerves. I have googled everything and can’t find answers…
I’m currently using MalwareBytes Pro in conjunction with McAfee, only because it was a default program when I installed a fresh copy of my operating system. I was using BitDefender before that, though.
Yea Malwarebytes is good. I also use Spybot Search & Destroy. If you use Chrome, there are extensions that also help a little bit with web browsing like Dr. Web (It also blocks analytics, useful for blocking spam/tracking data)
S&D is good. McAfee isn’t too great imo though
I use 360 total security along with malware bytes, catches pretty much everything and will allow you exclude files before they are deleted
If you want free, just use Malwarebytes. Anything else that’s free is not worth it because it doesn’t do anything.
If you want one because you are legitimately concerned, buy something like Kaspersky. I personally hate most security programs because they either: don’t work, slow down your computer, slow down your web browsing, or just get in the way all the time.

Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials (Called something else now, Google it.) work fine.
And they’re both free.
On my Windows PC I personally don’t use an anti-virus. As long as you aren’t downloading sketchy 3rd party apps you have nothing to worry about.
you no longer need to use a anti virus for about 10 years now… i download on average 1000-1500gb of crap every month and havnt used an anti virus since 2006.
The only thing i would say might be advisable if you really are that worried about it is run your banking stuff on a seperate device, dont worry about paypal transactions though.
If you really just want one even though they do nothing but slow down your pc…go for one made by eset
What would be of more use is a system care program such as advanced system care
