Hello, today I tried reinstalling horizon after AVG removed it for some reason, I uninstalled AVG, and everytime I run the installer I get this error:
Anyone know what to do?
You need to run something like CCleaner’s registry tool to get rid of the old registry keys that keep pointing it toward that folder. You should also get a better antivirus.
I already ran CCleaner, I saw you reply the same thing to a dude having a problem with infinity, and I don’t even have an antivirus most of the time, just was trying out AVG.
Have you tried the Windows installer cleanup utility?
No I haven’t yet, mind linking me to it?
I don’t have a link and I don’t want to link you to a download I haven’t personally tested.
@TreLiaRBLX Are you sure you ran the registry cleaner in CCleaner? The main cleaner doesn’t clean the registry.
I ran both the registry cleaner and the main cleaner.
Are you sure where ever you are installing it to there isn’t a program running in the same folder that doesn’t like things touching it. I ran into this once, you’ll need to change the download settings in the horizon setup and I’m not sure where they would be at.
Try clearing the appdata folders in %appdata% Local. I’ve been having an issue connecting and this resolved it for me. It seems CCleaner isn’t able to deal with these folders itself so they must be removed manually. Just open my computer and type %appdata% then back up one folder to local. You’ll see the folders in question. Uninstall Horizon first, delete those folders and reinstall.
CCleaner doesn’t delete app data folders. That is Horizons install location.
I know this
First of all I would use the AVG Remover from this link http://files-download.avg.com/util/tools/AVG_Remover.exe
then I would both of those tools mentioned above. Then download the new version of Horizon.
Then reinstall the latest version of AVG, wait for it to finish setup. When its finished then go to the advanced settings scroll down menu, and down that list should be exclusions, which can done for the folders, download urls, and file locations, ours will be the location of the downloaded setup, and the eventual installed program folder.
Now we can add the downloaded setup file to the excluson list, the folder that it installs to which is the local app data folder "C:\Users\YOUR USER NAME\AppData\Local\Daring_Development\Horizon.exe
I would also add the url: https://wemod.s3.amazonaws.com/horizon/setup/Horizon-Setup.exe
And thats how you can get the program to work with AVG, but we may not have to do this since the latest update Horizon came out recently.
You are right, I’ve had multiple viruses before and ■■■■ of that nature, I don’t really keep my computer in the best shape, I am running windows 7, so I’m going to just completely wipe my computer and start fresh. Not just because of this problem with horizon, but just because my computers 2tb drive is like 90% full with a bunch of duplicate files, and just all around bullshit, so if the problem persists after doing this, I’ll follow those steps and whatever other steps you guys provide for me. Thanks for trying to help! Oh yeah, and this is off topic, but what would be a good antivirus to go with? I never really worried about one, I had malwarebytes forever, but I didn’t feel like paying for it so I just went without an antivirus for a while.
