Destiny: The Dark Below Expansion Release Date and Details

Bungie has announced Destiny’s first expansion, The Dark Below, will be available on December 9 for $19.99 / £19.99 as a standalone purchase, or as part of the $34.99 / £34.99 Season pass which also offers the second expansion, House of Wolves.

The developer has also gone into details about what new content we’ll be seeing to justify that purchase price. Along with the expected new weapons and armour, the Light Level cap will raise to 32 with five new bounty slots also added.

The expanded story will apparently focus on new character Eris, who has spent years hiding among the Hive only to come forward bearing a warning. The Hive are apparently trying to summon a god, Crota, to destroy Earth. Eris will be found in the Tower where she’ll offer you special quests including three new missions where you can increase your Light and get new rewards.

Other additions include a new co-operative Strike, The Will of Crota, which pits you against Omnigul as she works to expand Crota’s Hive army, and a new six-player Raid, Crota’s End, where you enter the Hellmouth presumably to take the deity on.

On the PvP front, there are three new arenas: Pantheon, set in the Black Garden inside a Vex temple with tight corridors; Skyshock, an old interplanetary defense array; and The Cauldron, an abandoned Hive ritual site focused on close combat.

Additionally, PlayStation platforms will get another co-operative Strike called The Undying Mind.

This is quite expensive for what you get.

I would say it should say that the only thing worth paying for is the raid. Everything else should be free

Yeah you have a point, but that wouldnt justify 20 dollars worth of my money. As it is right now I am saving 5 dollars for the season pass and then next fall I will get the rest of the dlc that was exclusive to ps3 and ps4 for a whole year.

Did anyone notice that the new wizard for the strike is the same as one in an old vidoc?

Anyone else tired of them catering to PS instead of the community that made them… ridiculous…

No I don’t. They were the ones that made Halo not us. Xbox users bought a great game that they spent time, effort and money on. If it was released on PS I bet it would have been just as successful. So I don’t agree that we made budgie.

Also I bet Sony paid a ton of money for exclusive content. Blame Microsoft for not paying more.

The only thing i’m bothered about it how long they are exclusive for, 1 year is a bit excessive.

But the fact that they neglect the X1 system when it comes to them gaming with the community and other challenges shouldnt have anything to with exclusivity…

And a year is way to damn long of a time 3 months maybe but all other titles do what a 2 week exclusive before console wide release, battlefield and COD…

Its actually 1 month

Ok a month still not a damn year later…
