For some time now it seems as if I’ve been posting the same sentence in every other thread regarding me upgrading from my Xbox 360 to a Xbox One and not being able to play said next-gen. games. Well, nothing has changed except for the fact that I decided to get Destiny for the Xbox 360 rather than waiting on purchasing a Xbox One. I still wish I had the ability to play the game on the Xbox One, but I guess life just doesn’t see it as my time.
Anyways, since I’ve been playing the game night-n-day, I’ve quickly found myself passing everyone. I’m now at a point where I feel as if I should pick a Faction, but I’m unsure which to pick and would like to see what others have decided to represent. Thanks to the awesome people over on the [u]r/DestinyTheGame[/u] page I’ve done some reading regarding the few different Factions and everything that goes along with each group, but I’m still unsure which one to select and represent for the time being.
Personally, I was thinking of going with New Monarchy because they have some pretty cool looking emblems, weapons, etc., but after looking at/reading about the other two Factions (Dead Orbit and Future War Cult) I can see a few reasons to join either. (ex: Dead Orbit has a very legit looking warrior-style emblem. // FWC has colorful gear.)

New Monarchy, bringing justice to the city one ass kicking at a time. Also I wish there was PvP on exploration, for example; if I equip the New Monarchy cloak and someone else has the Dead Orbit cloak, we will be hostile to each other. Other than the different names, the faction doesn’t play much of a big role for your character, just something to pass time to raise reputation.
Awesome, like I said above, I’m thinking of joining the New Monarch, but I want to hear everyone prior to making a decision; see the reasons behind the decision. As for the PvP incorporated in exploration, that would be pretty cool, I imagine the 1v1 fight that one could have in Borderlands.
Is a Faction rank similar to the Vanguard rank where it takes a good amount of time to level or are they quicker?
Turn left from spawn, take the corridor, turn left near the end. It’s easy to miss, it’s near the outfitter lady in the corner and the speaker. And in the likely event that my directions are nonsense, view the map/robot thing at the bottom of the stairs on the right/other side of the wall from the outfitter.
I don’t really care about the ideals for each faction so I chose FWC because their armor has Intellect and Discipline which are the best skills to get in my opinion.
My buddy who has played Destiny since launched on the PS4 said it’s pointless to join a Faction because all the XP goes to them rather than when you’re apart of the Vanguard/Crucible Factions. I also found out that you’d have to switch back and forth from wearing the Faction item(s) to Vanguard/Crucible items because you’d have to earn marks to purchase gear.
…I still see a lot of the top players running around under a Faction so I’m sure I’ll join one.
Prior to researching more on every Faction, I was interested in the Dead Orbit Faction because they have some legit looking weapons and emblems, but, now that I’ve done some research, I feel as if it’d be the second best Faction I could join.
Even though there is a lot of empty space around The Tower already, I’d guess the two remaining Factions would be located behind the Iron Banner door.
That would be the only reason I join the FWC, for the Intellect+Discipline gear, but, personally, I don’t like the way the FWC weapons/gear look compared to the others…everything is colorful where as other Factions have straight forward colors. (ex: New Monarchy gear/items being red/white, Dead Orbit being Black/white, etc.)
Once in the area where the Speaker of Truth is located, turn left at the bottom of the stairs and he’s in the corner. (when facing the stairs to return to center of The Tower the leader would be to your right.)
That will probably be the Faction I roll with because I feel as if Intellect + Discipline are the two best stats to use/aim for when playing as a Hunter class…could be with every class now that I think about it, but it is all opinion based.
Overall, I appreciate all the replies and am looking forward to seeing others replies/reasons. As for now, I continue to run with the default Faction (Vanguard/Crucible) and will make my decision once I get more light. (I’m currently Lvl 24. with all Rare gear.)
