I can confirm it’s legitimate, done it to get a few Ferrari’s. 
For the money just keep doing it with expensive cars - Ferrari 250 GTO would be ideal as it’s 2 million credits, and sell them all.
Note - As always do this at your own behest and risk. Better be quick though, before it’s patched.
