So I had finally gotten a phone (galaxy s5) and within the first week of just using it at home it used 5gb. I was always connected to wifi but it still went up. I ended up just turning off my data completely at that point. I recently had to throw my phone in rice so I took my battery out and now that my phone works it is at 50gb. And it says it’s been going up the whole time even when I turned it off. Please can someone help me.
Hey dude,
Go to your settings and select “Data Usage”, it should display a list of applications that are using mobile data, and how much.
What is it that’s listed at the top?
You might have a rogue application, or the device may be faulty in which case I’d advise taking it back to the company that sold you the phone.
Make sure you’re on the latest lollipop version too, I also have Galaxy S5 yet have had no issues with data usage.
Best regards,
Brad.
Its YouTube and my data is off so I think it’s just the device also It just recently had water damage. (Which doesn’t effect this at all) so will I still be able trade in my phone or should I wait a little so all the moisture is gone
Place it in a box a uncooked rice for a few hours/days and that should suck a lot of the moisture out. It’s weird that YouTube is using a lot of data, maybe it keeps running in the background? I’d disable it if you don’t have unlimited data.
I had an issue of Google backing up all my photos which used a lot of data.
