Headset Adapter Issue | Xbox One

I am using my Turtle Beach XP510’s on my Xbox One. Everything seems to be working just fine, but when I plug the Headset Adapter into my controller and connect my headset via mobile device cable to get chat, everything starts to sound like rubbish. I get some delayed audio feedback, and everything becomes much louder. Is this normal?

Do you have a play and charge cable connected to your controller?

make sure you keep your controller updated also and if you are using a wireless control leave it unplugged see if that helps

No. But, I have the cable.

01.) I’d make sure your controller is up-to-date.
– When I purchased my 1TB Xbox One I didn’t have to worry about having an out-of-date controller, but, when I was trying to setup my A40s with my X1 I saw countless times people mentioning to update the controller just in case.

02.) Have you changed any of the settings via Display & Sound?
– Like you, when I upgraded to the X1 I had a headset that I preferred using rather then resorting back to the default that comes with the console(s). But, I had to update my mixamp and change some of the console settings to accommodate for it.

I’ve been using my Astro A40s for about a week now and have yet to experience any issues so try these few things and report back here if nothing worked. Best of luck!

01.) I’ve tried countless times to update my controller. My guess is that I’m already updated. The headset adapter shows up in the connected devices section.

02.) I have changed the proper settings such as Optical Audio >> Bitstream Out and Bitstream Out >> Dolby Digital. I’m getting proper audio until I plug my headset into the adapter.

I saw on the xbox forums that it might be a faulty lead, I’m not sure though cause i never had a Turtle beach.

01.) Okay. Just so you know for future reference, if you go to the controller and it doesn’t say their is an update available then you don’t have an update. (Figured I’d just inform you if you did try and update the controller even if there wasn’t a new update available.)

02.) Well, I don’t know what else to say man. I don’t know if it’ll help, but this is what I had to do for my Astro A40s + Mixamp.

> Display & Sound
>> HDMI Audio
>>> Off
>>Optical Audio
>>> Bitstream Out
>> Bitstream Format
>>> Dolby Digital

Best of luck!

Thanks for the support and walking me through this. I figured it out though after a thorough search on Xbox.com/Forums. It turns out that the adapter, which in my case will only be used for chat, still gets stereo audio from the controller, while the transmitter I have hooked up to my Xbox One is getting Dolby Surround Sound from the console at the same time. As one can guess this will make the audio sound like rubbish and will create delayed feedback, it almost sounded like a tunnel effect. The solution was to, on the adapter, turn the chat volume all the way up thus making the game volume be muted on the adapter side, and since the game/chat audio can be controlled from the headset and the adapter I got chat audio as well as crystal clear game audio from the headset. It can be quite complicated. I still don’t see why Microsoft has to do this to gamers.

Anyway, thanks for all of the help SNiPaZoR!

Oh okay, well there you go; I had to do something similar after getting everything situated with my Astro mixamp, but it was me just increasing the voice chat with the adapter because the game volume drowned out the voice.

Anyways, I know I didn’t solve your problem, but I’m glad I could be of some assistance!

You’re always there to help. That’s what matters.
