House Of Wolves ~ First Impressions?

Well, I got on the game to play the DLC as soon as it was released (6PM GMT) and I have to say the Campaign is very short and the rewards are quite average. (Apart from the new Sidearm!)

What are your opinions?

it gay

I’ve only done all the bounties and the first story mission so I can’t say much. I like it so far. I need more vault space badly though…

You’re telling me…

Thanks to the Cryptarch being glitched these past few days, the Ether chests gifting more than enough Decoherent engrams, and my dyer want for Treasure keys, I created two mule characters to hold all of the extra stuff! Once the House of Wolfs content was released I went straight to decoding everything so I could free up space; I leveled my Cryptarch six times!

…I have enough 200x - Spinmetal, 20x - Special Ammo Synthesis packs, and 20x - Heavy Ammo Synthesis packs to last me until the next Destiny game! Lol

Making mules is impossible as I have 3x32’s with almost all full inventories.

The sidearm is hella badass for those quick hits and the Prison of Elders is kind of nice whenbyou have guns and armor upgraded but i hate how you have to farm keys for hours up on hours just to open the gold chest in the end but its all new so we have to let it play out then we will see but i wal broadcasting on twitch all day the story mode and some PoE

I went to my mates house at 11pm until 5am (gmt). And we done all the bounties and the stories. Not the longest but I kinda liked it. My mate got two gallys doing prison or elders on level 28

with only 2-3 hours of extra solo gameplay and prison of elders adding about 1 hour per run, prison of eleders with almost compleatly open battlefields with very few hiding spots, invisible barriers to stop people from hiding and the sheer amount of splash damage heavy enemies that continue to spawn so you can’t kill the small fry then focus on the larger enemies and its hard for you to change weapons or use items in a pinch.

in short house of wolves won’t keep most intrested for long if they don’t play PvP.

I’ve been farming crucible all night for passage coins. Up to 23 for this weekend.

So, what freaking happens is when i download the 800 MB update it corrupts compatibility pack 1 and i need to download it again and i have the ****test internet connection ever (2MBPS)

Man, I had a 1MBPS a few years back. I know how it feels.

Head over to r/DestinyTheGame and see how many people are complaining…

One, when it comes to the length of the new content, what did you expect? A brand new story that would take more then a few hours or days to complete? A company could do so, obviously, but if you play the game as much as I do then you’d be able to fly through the new content where as a casual player could take a weeks time. Prison of Elders wise, why are you, again, expecting the content to last more then a hour or so?..Raids roughly take the same amount of time if matched with skilled/leveled players? Overall, I feel as if this newly released expansion has pointed the game in the right direction and shows us, the players, that Bungie is listening to our thoughts/ideas/complaints/ and are slowly making this game better for all to enjoy. (ex: Raids for PVE players and Crucible events for PVP players)

Everyone is entitled to an opinion regarding a video game or content within a game, but I feel as if you’re just being ignorant; especially when looking at the previous expansion, The Dark Below, and seeing that it wasn’t anything close to what The House of Wolfs is.

P.S.
So far I’ve:

 • Decoded all of my decoherant engrams from farming the Ether chests.
 • Completed the Weekly/Nightfall.
 • Finished the new story quest(s).
 • Completed POE - Lvl. 28 & Lvl. 32.

: I shall try the Prison of Elder content once I can get a decent Fireteam together!

ITS AWESOME!

Completed level 34 Prison of Elders I love it, took us about an hour with lots of death but it’s worth it in the end.

Finally I can wear VoG armour again.

Arc damage on the 34 prison of elders is not fun

I think the main part is the value of what you are paying.
The $20 pricetag is not equal to the amount of content provided.

For any other game with an open world, $20 would get over 40-80 hours of content (if not more depending on the player).

None of this content would take a week to get through, maybe 10 hours at most to do everything at least once.
Grinding through the same areas = content.

Pretty intense. Loving it. Finding it hard without a good team though.

Played PoE for the first time yesterday and loved it. Kind of lame how you need these super rare treasure keys to open the big chest at the end though. It’s like a long weekly for 2-4 coins at the end lol

Hey, on one hand I agree with you, but on the other I can kind of see where Bungie is coming with the Prison of Elders:

D: One should be rewarded for farming!

– From the start, Bungie stated that those who played from “Day 01” or farmed would benefit over those who didn’t/don’t. With that said, at this point in the game, I really don’t see how a “Day 01” player benefits from a “Christmas Noob” rather then having the knowledge of everything, but I do see how farming benefits a player. (ex: Did you get a really good weapon that could benefit you or your fireteam in a certain scenario, but it isn’t maxed? Accept and complete every bounty that you can so you can have the maxed weapon within a days time rather then a weeks worth.) So, besides still not understanding how “Day 01” players excel over others, I am glad to see that players who farm for keys are able to get more rewards over those who choose to let the game decide their destiny on whether or not they get to open the larger chest for better rewards. See what I did there?

A: How is beating a high level boss the same value as a “rare” item?

– Even though there are a multitude of ways to obtain Treasure Keys, all still are based off RNG, thus could take awhile to accumulate a decent amount; five per character and five per vault. But, with all the luck and farming that goes into getting those said keys, how is beating a Lvl. 32/34/35 boss the same value as a simple 2x - Mote of Light or 2x -Strange Coin reward? Obviously, we don’t expect to be gifted an endless amount of exotics, but, with the ability of ascending older weapons and gear, it’d be nice to get something as simple as a Etheric Light so we can get cracking on leveling our old gear since we have so much of it!

P.S.
If anyone is still curious about certain aspects of the new expansion and aren’t sure where to look, try the Destiny subreddit page, I always find important information on that page. ( Reddit - DestinyTheGame )

Useful ‘Prison of Elders’ Links:

Disclaimer - I’ve yet to run or complete Lvl. 34 or Lvl. 35 so I don’t entirely know how those two levels play out, but, from what I’ve read, they are completely different then the Lvl. 28 and Lvl. 32 so maybe they’ll impress me more with the rewards once I complete them for myself; I am heavily enjoying the new content and can’t get enough of it, I just wish Bungie would stop throwing in small rewards that we already have enough of or that we could acquire through other events.

Streaming lv34 PoE if anyone cares watch me get slaughtered

i have to say that house of wolves was a lot of fun on first day. only had about 5 hours to play it and that was at release because i am in the middle of a move. but with how boring the game has been the last few months and every week the same grind with the same bounties it was nice for something new. yet in those few hours i played i did the campaign with my hunter, did prison of elders and the lvl 32 PoE and made my hunter a lvl 33. so with how fast i was able to do all that i figure it will take about a day worth of gaming to get all my characters to lvl 34. i really liked the sidearm. making all my exotics the new standard was nothing and i still have enough materials to not need to farm for at least another month lol. running sword on crota hard as a 33 or 34 is gonna be like running it on normal now. and with a 365 praetorian foil the vault just got that much easier.
