Incorrect dl speed?

So my isp is virgin media in the uk and I pay for 150Mb/s which when downloading is roughly 20MB/s. Last night I was download and bittorrent was showing I was downloading at 65MB/s 3x what I pay for?!

Is this bittorrent giving me an incorrect speed or did something happen with my isp?

I wouldn’t judge my speed via a torrent app as they usually don’t reach near your D/L speed.

Use something like http://www.speedtest.net/ via a wired PC for a more true test.

I tested on that i got 20MB/s but on torrent i was getting 65MB/s, 3x what speedtest said?

Are you wired or wireless?

Off peak times?

I guess just do the math, see if it’s right… how big was the download and how long did it take…

If it was at a weird time (real late), it’s possible you just had faster internet.

I’m happy when I hit 1.5 MB/sec.

Can’t do the math didnt know how long it took to download and ive removed it now. It was about 11pm on saturday isn’t too stupid of a time and yeah I’m using wired

I mean why would my isp boost my download speed 3x tho?! haha not that im complaining lool

I’m confused, it says you pay for 150 in the original post but you said you get 20 regularly? Did you have a typo and mean you pay for 15mb/s?

150Mb/s is basically the same as 20MB/s.

I don’t think the torrent was accurate though. That is too big of an increase.

no typo 150Mb/s = 20MB/s like chris said

thats what i was thinking 3x speed is crazy increase

yea same with me i pay for 150 mbps i only get 20 download speed when i had my xbox 360 it took almost 24 hours to download a 8gb game and nothing was on but my xbox

This is not the same. He is getting more speed than what he paid for. He was downloading at 65 Megabytes per second which is the equivalent of 520 Megabits or about 3x when he is paying for.
