Many users are required to re-download Halo 5: Guardians

[/img]Microsoft’s latest entry to their sci-fi shooter franchise ‘Halo 5: Guardians’ is scheduled to release next week, and for those who have pre-ordered via Xbox Live, the base game is currently available to download. With the final game’s files close to a hefty 60GB, pre-downloading will save time at launch, however does carry its own technicalities.

According to a recent post to the official Halo site, many gamers are carrying placeholder versions of the game, due to an error with the Xbox Store. For those who began pre-loading before September 21st, there is a possible chance that the game download may have contained a stub file, which is used as a placeholder before release. This problem has been corrected, and should be automatically fixed for those who use the Xbox One’s ‘Instant On’ mode.

For those who have the feature disabled, there is a high chance the game will need to be re-installed. To check your game files to verify the placeholder has been removed, follow the steps given by Microsoft below.
