Whats up Horizon? Wow it has been awhile since i havn’t checked this site out. in fact i almost forgot it existed. haha
anyway, so i decided to built a custom rig. The main reason for it is actually architectural work, like video and photo renderings. However since i am getting a custom pc i decided it might switch me from console to pc. Which at this point i really dont mind.
I don’t have all the parts ordered just yet but i have already what i want to order.
This is my list:
TowerNZXT Source 220 (Alrdy Ordered) CD DriveASUS 24X DVD Burner (Alrdy Ordered) Power SupplyCORSAIR CX series CX750M (Alrdy Ordered) CPUIntel Core i7-4790K RAMCORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (I will upgrade to more later) Graphics CardEVGA GeForce GTX 970 Hard Drive (Havn’t decided) Mother BoardGIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H
I plan on having it complete by the end of summer. I alrdy made a spreadsheet and without taxes i’m a little bit at over $1000. My budget started of at $800 but once i got into researching on parts and all that i was lie hell yeah i want that. I do have full time job so buying the parts won’t be a problem. I do plan on getting these games/programs:
GTA V
AutoCAD
Revit Architecture
Lumion
Those programs are pretty hectic, they are for architetcural/designing (except GTA duh).
I really can’t wait to get this! Please let me know what you guys think about this set up i hope to play GTA V on 1080p 60+fps max settings.
Oh and in other news i graduated today from College :D:D:D:D
The new series of GPUs are coming out soon, and you can get an 8GB R9 290X for the same price as that GTX 970.
Personally, I’m going to be getting one of the new GTX 980s (either Metal or Ti depending on which one is 8GB), but that should most likely be September / August. Also, games can go above 6GB of VRAM, like when I run Shadow of Mordor it uses MORE Than 6GB on Ultra at 1440p.
(currently using an 8GB R9 290X)
For storage, look into getting a Solid State Drive for your primary (there are a few reasonably priced 1TB SSDs as well).
You are also using the ultra HD texture pack and very few games go over 4gb. Everyone always says new stuff is coming then it is months before it ever happens and they are priced extremely high. Not to mention he said he is only going to be playing at 1080p. Why would you get an SSD for your primary? For a boot disk it is fine but they are far too expensive if you did what I did and installed several TB of games and apps.
Primary drive on the PC being the boot drive, and just added in that there are 1TB SSDs, too, that are reasonably priced for what they are.
I just use a 250GB SSD with a 1 TB SSHD.
Either way, the R9 290X outpaces the GTX 970 at that price point.
I really can’t wait that long due to the fact i will start class in the fall so i want to have everything ready. As far as storage… My original plan was to have 3 internal hd 1tb each but i like the idea of 1tb internal with 1tb ssd (then later ad aother 1tb ssd). Just because i will feel safer storing pics and vids to the ssd.
I don’t know how long you can wait. But I’d wait for the new chips from Intel. From my understanding you’ll be able to use them with either DDR3/DDR4 RAM which can be nice for yourself with upgrades.
