New member looks for help and guidance :)

Hey there XMB members!

Where to begin…? I’ve been a gamer for about 20 years now and in the modern consoles with a profile I normally run under the same nickname I use here in the forum.

I came to this site in search for cheats for Xbox 360 games. I’m a completionist and always want the games I play completed 100%. Everything unlocked, everything checked, every level reached, every everything… You get the gist. Most of the time it is (and was) no problem whatsoever. But then there have always been a couple of games that are designed to make you grind the same thing over and over again for hours, days and weeks (e.g.: Reaching level 99 in Soul Calibur II) Other few games have difficulty levels that surpass my skills even after (again) days and weeks and improving them (e.g.: Getting all Pure Platinum medals in the hardest difficulty in all stages in Bayonetta). In the older days with N64, Gamecube and PS2, there were Action Replays and other easy-to-use cheating devices that made reaching the perfectionists goal possible - and within a reasonable amount of time.

With the last console generation and and the online firmware updates and profiles these cheating devices went de facto extinct. With that generation I changed to the Xbox 360 but the facts stayed the same. Most games are doable. And then there is Online MP… I admit it. I hate it. If i hadn’t said perfectionist vein, I’d say screw the MP. But it feels kinda incomplete then. So, with new games coming out that have a miserable Online MP, I force myself through it to get the achievements, max out the level if possible, get/buy all items/weapons and so on to have that done for good.

With the older games it is where my search for cheats started. I won’t surprise anyone when I’m saying it is quite impossible to play online modi in games that are older than a year, because no one ever plays them anymore. And even if: you have to find one, two, three or more other guys who are willing to help you get your achievements. When you’re saying you just want to reach the level cap - it’s even more impossible to find playing partners. And then with the Xbox One already around for quite a while, the servers for the older games get shut down - slowly but surely.

Of course there are also some games that have single player content that I like to cheat away to complete, but they’re reduced to a few selected ones like Watch Dogs or the already mentioned Bayonetta.

I know there is an achievement unlocker in Horizon, and it would help greatly in some cases, but I also know that MS gets all jittery and nervous when someone messes with his Gamerscore. My question is now, would Horizon be able to help me bypass that? Modding the stats in online modi just to be able to reach that damn last level that is possible to reach? Get enough money to buy all the MP stuff? And for the SP: Unlimited health would be helpful in many cases I guess. But it’s too complicated and long now to lay out every game that wants to be completed and what is needed therefore.

I’d be very happy and grateful to get some illuminating answers for my completionist problem and whether Horizon could be helping me with that!

Thanks!

That was an introduction, I say. To answer your question, yes Horizon can help you in that way. It all depends how the games are set-up. Meaning If the game you have stores MP Data on servers, Horizon won’t work with that. As for storymode, Horizon can absolutely help! Again, it all depends which game you’re playing. Some games it can help by modifying stats, or just unlocking new perks/attributes. It all varies by games. To answer your other question about Gamerscore, Microsoft does check that, what I suggest, If you wish to modify your Gamerscore, is to mod it, but not all at once. That would really alert them. Just mod some achievements here and there. That would make Microsoft less likely to detect it. Hope this helps.

First of all, welcome to HorizonMB!

Secondly, if you are a true completionist and want to keep all those achievements you worked hard for, do NOT mod your gamerscore.
You can take all the precautions in modding your score, but over time you WILL eventually be reset. It’s not worth it, if you value the score you have now.

A safer way would be to mod a game save so that you have god mode, and then can easily complete all the levels for example. Sometimes you can find gamesaves that will pop all the achievements for said game, but I’m not sure if this is a safer method than just modding your score.

As for online games, MOST of them you cannot mod. This is because data is stored server side, not console side. I think the arcade game Quake is one of the few games that can be modded online. You’d need a JTAG/RGH xbox for everything else.

Thanks a lot for the quick answers!

For the Non MP games, it’s really most mopping up stuff, that I don’t have to patience and/or skills to do. The aforementioned Watch Dogs has a nearly freaking amount of mini-games that are a pain in the ass to get the best result in (mostly do this or that under a specific time limit), what I would need Horizon for. Same with Mirror’s Edge and The Force Unleashed 2. Some of the missions/time-trials are so stupidly hard - for me at least - I just want the shiny whatever-is-the-best medal in these things to say “Ok it’s the best unlocked.” I don’t care about Online Leaderbords and so on. I can do it offline.

Resident Evil 6 has a enormous list of in-game achievements (nothing to do with the MS achievements) that are partly so ridiculous to get, but I’d like to have em - without sitting there, killing a specific enemy that appears five times in the game 1000 times. (Yes, that is not exaggerated).
So most of the time it isn’t just “have unlimited ammo for this and that weapon”, but something more… extraordinar I’d need cheats for.

But most of the stuff has something to do with the online modi: AC 3, 4, Revelations and Brotherhood. So many items to buy, so many level to rank up… I mean who is considered to to this?! Same problem with Tomb Raider, Duke Nukem Forever, GTA 4 and some others. But the game that nails it is definitely Red Dead Redemption. So much stuff to do online (besides a bazillion levels to get) and there is no-one who is willing to play and help to be found… :anguished:

With the achievements it is the same problem in the MP modi. I’ve been looking for five years now to find someone to help me get that last damn achievement in Dante’s Inferno. Found one once who rage-quited after the game was to difficult for him… Same with the AC’s and Tomb Raider or exceptionally funny in case of Quantum of Solace, where you need four guys to just play the game online.

And actually I couldn’t care less about the Gamerscore. I just want that submenu with the achievement pictures fully unlocked, but I guess the one doesn’t go without the other. And as already said and confirmed MS is watching Argus eyed…
