[Official] Disc Unreadable thread (XGD3 and dae.bin) Q's and A's

This is going to be an all in one thread to answer everyones questions about the recent dae.bin updates concerning disc unsupported read errors

First off, I am only basing this off of factual information and not any assumptions.
I am not responsible for any information that may mis-lead you to a ban.

If you have a message like this pop up on your xbox while launching an XGD3/AP2.5/6 Original title or backup then your box has been flagged by Microsoft’s Silent dae.bin update.

This has effected both non modified consoles and modified consoles posing a risk for console ban even for those who play legitimately

Now for the most important part the questions.

Q: I received a message like the one above and my game is not a burned copy and my Xbox 360 is not flashed why?
A: Again the silent update effected everyone, it was poorly planned out by Microsoft and rushed resulting in errors for everyone.

Q: What is this dae.bin “Silent update” you’re talking about?
A: Basically, Microsoft enabled it so the Anti-Piracy tables which control a games security tables for piracy can be updated at any moment while you are on Xbox LIVE without your consent or knowledge. Resulting in the errors above.

Q: I am flagged will my console be banned?
A; Not necessarily the way that this situation is looking now is that Microsoft may be forced to roll back it’s flags like they did in August.

Q: You say that they did a roll back in August what do you mean?
A: This same type of situation happened during Mid to late August people who had a real and/or burned copy of Blackops, Modern Warfare 2 and other AP2.5 titles who received a dirty disc error even if a paid for game were flagged. They were console banned, but due to the numerous reports like with this situation they found that their system had a flaw and had to reverse the flagging and console bans.

Q: I was console banned soon after receiving this error will I be unbanned?
A: I make no promises or guarantees, your console ban may have been for something else Microsoft reserves the right to ban anyone at any moment for anything it is states in the Xbox LIVE Terms of Use.

Q: Isn’t it illegal what they are doing a Software update without our consent or knowledge?
A: In theory yes, any type of Software change that can effect functionality is required on a users end to accept and acknowledge this. The way that Microsoft has the Code of Conduct and Terms of use setup though is again if you are banned as the outcome of this they have the right to it is found.

Found in the Live Terms of Use it states that what they are doing is legal on their end

Q: Will there be a bypass for iXtreme or flashed consoles?
A: Yes, c4eva and the team have LT+3.0 in progress, it defeats AP2.5/6 as a whole.

Taken from c4evaspeaks.com through IRC log

“Xtreme LT+ v3.0 is on the way! Yesterday, having revealed to the team an idea for countering the recent dae.bin/AP2.5 update, c4eva has today confirmed that he has in fact completely done away with the need for dae.bin/AP2.5 data. Although it’s early stages, c4eva has successfully completed several tests which validate this new method and classified his solution as the “silver bullet” for AP2.5. Rather than using captured challenge results each time the dae.bin changes, the new method builds a complete set of profile data for each disc and works for all AP2.5 challenges, regardless of how the dae.bin is changed. As a result, the format of backup ISOs will be changing as the AP25 replay sector will no longer be included and the profile data will instead take its place. Though c4eva noted that it will take some development time as it’s not a quick fix, both he and the team will now be putting their full efforts behind bringing this solution to life in the form of new versions of iXtreme LT+, Xbox Backup Creator, and abgx360.”

Q: Will I have to re-burn my XGD3 games or AP2.5/6 games?
A: Yes, all current XGD3 games will have to be re-ripped by uploaders with the new firmware once it is out to include the new data needed to bypass these Xbox LIVE updates.

Q: Is there an estimated time of arrival for the firmware?
A: To be honest no, the process may be quick or it might take a month or two either way it will arrive and once again flashed console owners will have a way to play backups.

Q: I have not been effected by any of this yet what does that mean for me?
A: You will eventually it may take time for Xbox LIVE to update your dashboard but it will several of my Xbox’s have been effected both modified and retail.

Q: Will installing the game to my hard drive protect me?
A: No.

Q: What about installing a paid for copy to my hard drive and launching the game from a burned copy?
A: Again the update effected both retail boxes with no modifications and modded consoles.

Q: Will buying a new console fix this?
A: No, do not buy a new console you will waste your money.

Q: Will buying a new copy fix this?
A: No, you will again waste your money

Q:How come the disc works in my friends xbox and not mine?
A: That persons Xbox may not have been updated yet with the new tables.

Q: What is your recommendation for staying safe right now?
A: The true answer is to stay off of Xbox LIVE until the new firmware and rips of games are made that way you have no chance of having your data updated.

The problem can be seen on the official Xbox Forums by Microsoft as a widespread issue on several games and in new threads
