To the wonderful community of XboxMB,
This is my farewell. Some of you might be confused about this news, others of you probably saw it coming by the lack of my activity recently. I was hesitant about making this decision, but it’s for the best. I am, in fact, dropping down from my Administrative position here on XboxMB and retiring. I’ll try to keep things short and to the point, but let me explain it all. For those of you who don’t really care, don’t bother reading any further. My TL;DR version of this thread is simply “Goodbye.” For those lovely members who are actually interested, let us begin.
I’ve been with this awesome team for well over a year. It might not see that long of a time period for some of you, but it has been quite a journey and an amazing experience for me. I first met the oldies like Cheater912, zrueda, maxxy, and Col2eight on ModdedWarfare (MW). For those of you who don’t know, MW was a forum for the famous CoDTool. This tool absolutely sucked because Cheater couldn’t even code! (Haha you know I’m kidding Cheater, we all loved it. <3) But besides the point, I was promoted to Global Moderator on this site and had some great times with the old timers. Unfortunately, MW was shutdown after Cheater received a C&D letter from Activision and things died down for a bit. A few months later (maybe even earlier), Horizon was in the works and I was a Moderator on Horizon360. I can’t remember too much during this time period but I do remember the site moving to Se7enSins for a while. It wasn’t until a short amount of time after the move that we ended up moving back to Horizon360! When we thought that we were finally settled in, our server was being attacked (If I remember correctly) and the site was down for a very long time. After all the chaos ended, I was promoted to Administrator when the site returned. Not too long after that, Cheater told me about XboxMB and here I am now! As you can see, it’s been a crazy journey!
Now that you have a good idea about how I got here and where I came from, let me explain exactly why I have decided to retire from my position. As you might have noticed, my activity has decreased greatly during the past few weeks. I’m not going to make up this sad story about why I’m inactive, but I’m just going to be truthful about the situation; I have simply lost interest in my old ways. What are my old ways you might ask? I just no longer enjoy modding or engaging in discussions on internet forums. I don’t even play that much on Xbox Live anymore! The change in my attitude and my personality has shocked me as well. I feel like I have finally arrived at a point in my life where I need to start focusing on the things that are going to matter, and the things that will shape my future. I’m already about half way through High School and my grades are what I need to be focusing on right now. Not only do I need to focus on my education, but also my relationships. Sure, I’ve met a lot of great people on the internet and especially here on XboxMB, but I need to work on building my relationships with friends and family too. Let’s be honest, spending hours at a time in front of a computer screen doesn’t exactly improve your social skills, and I feel it’s time for me to break out of my shell and meet new people. I’ve had a terrific time on XboxMB but it’s time for me to move on.
Before I go and step down from my staff position completely, I would like to share my thoughts about some of the staff here on XboxMB. I just went to let you, the members of this wonderful community, to realize that the staff team here is incredible:
Cheater, you’ve been in this game for so long and I’ve had a great amount of respect for you this whole time. I’m going to be honest, I usually don’t understand half of the things you tell me on AIM. Haha but you’ve been a great inspiration to me during this experience. Keep doing what you’re doing and I wish you the best of luck in your future. I can tell you’re going to be a very successful person, that is if you don’t consider what has already happened to be a success!
Zrueda, we’ve knocked heads many times in the past but you are definitely a person who knows what he’s doing. If you want something to be done, you’re the type of person that will get it done and be determined. You’ve done so much throughout this process and I thank you for all the help.
Dean, you’ve been the best. Out of all the staff members here on XboxMB, you’re the one that I’ve agreed the most with. I understand your mindset and point of view about most of the situations and issues that we’ve seen on this site and I think that you’re great at your job. Your promotion to Administrator was well deserved and I hope you have fun running the usergroup alone! Haha well, at least until one of the Vet. Mods comes and joins you. Lol.
Lolvo, you still amaze me to this day. I remember seeing some of your first posts on this site and thinking to myself, “This guy knows his sh*t.” Haha Nookie’s and your promotion to Vet. Mod were also well deserved and I know this community is in good hands with the both of you being around.
As for the rest of the staff: Owners, just keeping owning it. Haha. Developers… stay fresh. And for the rest of the Super Mods, thanks for all your help and keep these forums clean! XboxMB and Horizon are going to be very successful, and I wish everyone the best of luck! I’m going to start to wrap this up because I know you’re all about to fall asleep. One of the staff members will have to take over MOTM if you continue to have it, for I will no longer be around to host it. To all the members that have been sticking around, you’re the best. Without you, XboxMB would not be what it is today. But before I go, let me say this: People of XboxMB, please bring back the aspect of modding! One of the reasons why I lost interest was the fact that most of the threads today are about general topics and other silly things. Bring back the true purpose of an Xbox Message Board. On that note, it has truly been an honor working with all of you, but it is my request for one of you to demote me after reading this thread. Don’t worry, I’ll still be lurking around and posting in discussions that catch my interest. I apologize to the staff team for not letting them know ahead of time about my decision, but I felt like it would have been better if I just came out and posted a Goodbye thread. I know I’m probably missing something but hey, it must have not been that important in the first place. This has been a great experience for me and it’s something that I’ll never forget.
Thanks everyone,
Modified.
