In Gears of War 2, Marcus Fenix and the COG forces were forced to destroy the Jacinto plateau, the last major city on the planet Sera since the appearance of the Locust on Emergence Day 15 years prior, to flood the Locust tunnels and slow the spread of Lambent, Locust creatures mutated by their exposure to the energic liquid know as Imulsion. In the eighteen months after the flooding of Jacinto, the human survivors have moved to the island of Vectes and have started to rebuild. After a generally quiet period, the Imulsion infected Lambent began to emerge from underground. Hiding something, the COG head of state, Chairman Prescott, abandoned the COG. Now leaderless and being forced off the island, the COG disbands and separates to the safest places left. Victor Hoffman takes some survivors to Anvil Gate while Delta squad sets off on a Raven’s Nest Class carrier, the CNV Sovereign, with the remaining humans to avoid further Lambent incursion.

While Augustus Cole and his squad look for supplies from the ruins of his hometown, former Chairman Prescott arrives on the Sovereign, providing Marcus with a data disc that shows his father, the scientist Adam Fenix, is still alive. The ship is soon attacked by a Lambent Leviathan; Marcus and his team try to defend the ship, luring the creature into a trap set by Baird at a nearby bridge. Though the Leviathan is destroyed, the ship is also lost. Prescott is among the mortally wounded, but before dying, provides Marcus with an encrypted key with the location of a secret base known as Azura where Adam is being held. Leaving some of his Gears to help the survivors, Marcus, Cole, Dom, and Baird take off towards Anvil Gate, where they have the equipment to decode the key, while Anya and the rest care for wounded.

The Gears are forced to travel across Locust-controlled bases, and the Locust Queen,Myrrah, alerts all her troops in their path to the Gears approach. Marcus and his team eventually hijack a Locust gas barge to travel by air, stopping to help and rescue Dizzy, a skilled mechanic and driver. They arrive at Anvil Gate and help Hoffman defend against a Locust onslaught. Afterwards, they review the encrypted key to find the location of Azura but discover it is protected by a man-made Maelstorm, preventing arrival by air or on sea. Hoffman notes the location of a submarine in the ruins of Char, a nearby city, but they will need fuel. Dom suggests traveling to Mercy, where an Imulsion filling station is located, but also the home of his dead wife Maria.

At Mercy, the Gears discover humans that have become Lambent from Imulsion poisoning, and fear the infection may spread. As they are surrounded by Lambent forces, Dom sacrifices his own life to save Marcus, Anya, Sam, Jace and Dizzy by ramming a truck into a fuel pipe, which leaves Dom dead and the squad free to leave for Char.

When they arrive in Char they come up against surviving humans that have come to resent the COG for what they did to their world. In an effort to gain the needed fuel for the submarine, Marcus and his squad run an “errand” for a former wealthy imulsion executive named Aaron Griffin. Dizzy is held hostage by Griffin and was only released when Marcus and his squad traveled to another tower in Char to find a lost cable car loaded with fuel. When they look back at the tower where Griffin is holding Dizzy, they see Queen Myrrah attacking and rush to help. After fighting through some of the Queen’s guards, they resuce Dizzy, but loose the fuel. They sent set off for the Endeavor Shipyards, where the submarine is located. After repairing and refueling it with fuel they find at the shipyards, they set off for Azura.

After slipping under the Maelstorm, they find Azura is fashioned as a large resort. As they fight off the Locust that are also trying to get to Adam, they discover that Prescott had knowledge that Emergence Day was coming, as he had ordered the construction of Azura and brought the world’s elite to it prior to the appearance of the Locust. Adam is able to contact the team via the security cameras on the island, and explains he has a cure to stop the Lambent but needs their help to execute it. Marcus and his team fight through the Locust to shut down the Maelstorm generator with Adam’s instructions, allowing the remaining Gears and the Gorasni to arrive to provide air and ground support. As Lambent forces start appearing on the island, Marcus and his squad make their way to a hotel where Adam is being kept. En route, they face Myrrah, who reveals that Adam had been working with her for twenty years and refuses to let them help him complete his plan because it would result not only in the death of the Lambent, but the Locust as well. After dispatching Myyrah, the squad reaches Adam’s room. After a brief reunion and hearing news about Dom, Adam explains that Imulsion is a living organism, adapting itself to both Locust and human bodies to create the Lambent, and it is evolving quickly. Adam has developed a energy wave that, like a neutron bomb, will only destroy any cell infected by Imulsion. Adam had been in contact with Myrrah to try to stave off the effects on the Locust and to discover a cure that would not harm them, but could not find it in time.

Marcus and his squad escort Adam to the roof of the hotel where the energy generator for his cure sits. The Gears defend against Myrrah’s attack as the machine powers up. Adam reveals that he will die shortly as well, having infused himself with Imulsion to study the lifecycle of immulsion and to test his cure. He tells Marcus to go live for him and then the machine begins to reach full power causing his cells to break down, killing him and leaving his son devestated. As Marcus agonizes over the loss of his father, Myrrah, still alive from the last attack, blames Marcus for what Adam failed to do. Marcus stabs Myrrah with Dom’s knife, killing the Locust Queen. As the machine gives off waves of its energy, the Lambent and Locust begin to die en masse all over the planet. As the Gears celebrate the end of the war, Marcus continues to mourn the loss of Dom and Adam, but Anya reminds him of his father’s last words and that now, thanks to them, they have a tomorrow.

Horde mode is an arcade-style game mode in which up to five players band together to battle wave after wave of increasingly difficult Locust and Lambent enemies. At the beginning of each wave, enemies spawn from various points on the map. To progress to the next wave, your team must clear the map of all enemies. When the last enemy is killed, fallen players respawn and rejoin the battle in the next wave, where even stronger enemies await.

But it’ll take more than bullets to survive the waves of foes and terrifying bosses of Horde mode 2.0. If you’re going to make it through alive, you’ll need to build up your defenses with fortifications.

Fortifications are broken down into five main types:
Barriers slow the enemy’s assault and deal modest damage.
Decoys draw enemy fire away from your team, giving you a crucial tactical advantage.
Sentries are automated weapons useful for defending key areas or watching your back. Sentries provide the additional benefit of illuminating enemies in range in the Tac-Com view.
Turrets are stationary automatic-weaponry emplacements that mow down larger foes or large groups of enemies.
The Silverback provides deployable cover and awesome firepower, making it a must for any battlefield scenario.
At the beginning of every match of Horde mode, your first priority is to establish a Command Post. Survey the map for the most strategic position to build your base, then approach the green ghost image of the Command Post and press Y to build it. Now you’re ready to fortify your base and defend it from the onslaught.

Once your Command Post is established, building fortifications is as simple as approaching the ghost image of various installations (barriers, decoys, etc.) and pressing Y to interact with them. The color of the ghost image indicates what you can do with your current cash reserves:

Green – You can afford to build a new fortification.
Red – You can’t afford to build the fortification.
Yellow – You can afford to repair the fortification.
Blue – You can afford to upgrade the fortification.

The more you build, the more your skills increase, eventually allowing you to upgrade your fortifications. Be sure to keep a close watch on the status of your fortifications—if they soak up too much damage, they’ll be destroyed. To upgrade or repair a fortification, approach it and press Y.

Rock-solid defense isn’t free, and each fortification will cost you cash, hard-earned by destroying enemy waves. Every kill nets you more cash to build fortifications and purchase ammo resupplies or weapons. To earn even more, complete bonus objectives: special conditions that result in big rewards if completed in a given wave.

If you fall in battle, the fight isn’t over. Enter Ghost Cam mode by pressing X and survey the battlefield for remaining enemies or weapons. Click LS to spot them for your surviving allies. Any enemy that you’ve spotted, even while dead, will provide bonus cash when killed by your surviving squadmates Provided you have enough cash on hand, you can buy your way back to the land of the living and rejoin the fight—but only once per round.

Utilize your fortifications, teamwork, and coordination to survive. You can also swap weapons or share cash with your teammates by approaching them, pulling LT to aim, and pressing X, A, B, or Y.

Beast Mode

[details=Open Me]

Beast is a race against the clock to kill all human forces—if time runs out, you lose!
Killing humans and destroying their fortifications adds more time.
When time runs out, the Hammer of Dawn instantly destroys all Locust forces.
Hero units must be killed with executions or one-shot kills.

In each of Beast mode’s 12 waves, the goal is the same: Eliminate opposing Coalition forces before time runs out. For every enemy killed and fortification damaged, you’ll add extra time to finish each wave and unlock more Locust units. The ticking clock marks an incoming Hammer of Dawn strike—if time runs out, every Locust unit on the field is instantly destroyed, and the wave ends. Move quickly, kill Stranded and COG forces, and destroy their fortifications to add precious seconds to the clock.

At the end of each round, your time is added to a Total Time counter. Coordinate closely with your teammates and move quickly through the waves to achieve the shortest times possible.

As you take damage, you’ll see the Locust Cross—the Horde’s version of the Crimson Omen—fill with blood. Taking cover and avoiding damage will not regenerate health for your Locust units; they must be healed or revived by a Kantus priest or burrow into the ground as a Savage Corpser.

In addition to Stranded forces, waves also include Heroes: special human enemies such as Marcus and Dom who wield powerful weaponry. Heroes do not bleed out when downed; they must be executed at close range or dispatched with one-shot kills, such as the Boomshot. Locust units will gradually regenerate ammunition and grenades; however, you will find no ammo boxes or weapons to pick up on the battlefield.

Every human killed and fortification destroyed also grants you cash, which you’ll need to “purchase” Locust units to bring onto the battlefield. As you earn more cash, you’ll unlock higher “tiers” of units, each representing progressively greater destructive power and a range of diverse abilities. There are a total of four tiers of playable units:

[details=Tier 1]

  • Wild Ticker - The Wild Ticker is an exceptionally nimble yet fragile creature. Sporting invulnerability to automated defenses, the Wild Ticker’s primary role in Beast mode is to take out COG fortifications. The Wild Ticker is the only unit that takes no damage when attacking wall fortifications such as razor or barbed wire. Use the Wild Ticker to scout ahead and clear a path for its larger Locust brethren or to eat thrown grenades to sacrifice itself for your team’s survival.

  • A (Hold to) Forward Charge

  • B or RT Attack Fortification

  • X Eat Grenade

  • Ticker - The classic walking time bomb of the Locust arsenal. The Ticker’s only attack—self-detonation—is best used at a close range due to its very short fuse. Mobility is limited but still possible once you’ve begun the detonation sequence. This is the perfect opportunity to get even closer to your soon-to-be-gibbed opponents.

  • B or RT Explode

  • A (Hold to) Forward Charge

  • Wretch - Melee specialists with a penchant for stunning COG forces with an ear-splitting scream. Their jump attack can propel them over barriers, making them apt agents for quick, surgical strikes in enemy territory. Use their stun scream in conjunction with heavier Locust troops or a well-timed Ticker to make short work of the COG.

  • RT or B Melee Attack

  • A Use Cover

  • X Stun Scream

  • RB Leap Attack

  • Savage Drone - Standard Locust foot soldier equipped with the fearsome Retro Lancer. All standard controls for the Savage Drone’s human counterparts apply, as do the strategies. They are excellent in midrange combat and should make ample use of available cover to keep out of harm’s way.

  • RT Shoot

  • A Use Cover

  • Butcher - Butchers are large but slow melee creatures, capable of dealing extraordinary damage with their massive Cleavers and absorbing substantial damage before falling in battle. These tanks can also mantle over cover—a good way to cope with their slow movement speed.

  • A Run / Mantle

  • RT Swing Cleaver

  • B Melee Attack

[/details] [details=Tier 2]
- [b]Kantus[/b] - Kantus cannot take cover, but these priests can revive fallen enemies from a distance and heal or revive nearby teammates with their Scream. Paired with their Ink Grenades, the Kantus make an exceptional support class. Note that the Kantus Priest cannot heal Tickers, Savage Corpsers, Serapedes, Berserkers, other Kantus priests, or themselves. - A Run / Mantle - X Heal / Revive Scream - RT Shoot - A Evade
  • Bloodmount - Swift, agile creatures with powerful melee attacks. The Bloodmount also carries an AI-controlled gunner whose fire can be directed via spotting.

  • A Run/Mantle

  • B Melee Attack

  • LT + LS Spot Targets for Rider

  • Mauler - This walking siege creature protects itself with an equipped Boomshield while attacking close-range targets with a massive explosive flail. Hold LT to keep your shield at the ready while you approach targets and fortifications. Like its other Boomer brethren, the Mauler is slow but resilient.

  • LT Raise Shield

  • RT Flail Attack

  • A Run / Mantle

[/details] [details=Tier 3]
- [b]Giant Serapede[/b] - These heavily armored creatures are vulnerable at the tip of their tail, but are extremely tough otherwise. Their powerful biting attack is useful for dispatching human reinforcements and fortifications alike. Try using the Giant Serapede to destroy automated defensive installations like turrets. - B or RT Bite Attack
  • Savage Corpser - A large, armored creature that can crush its enemies at close range. The Savage Corpser possesses the unique ability to burrow—it can hide underground to avoid damage and rapidly heal itself without the aid of a Kantus priest. Make use of Burrow to stay active.

  • X Burrow / Emerge

  • B or RT Leg Stomp

  • Savage Grenadier - Powerful Locust shock troops equipped with a Gnasher Shotgun and Frag Grenades. Like the Savage Drone, the Savage Grenadier features a standard control scheme and move-set (evasion, cover abilities, etc.), but its capacity for regenerating ammo and Frag Grenades gives it a crucial advantage. Use close-range Gnasher blasts and planted grenades swiftly dispatch Hero-class COG forces.

  • RT Shoot / Throw

  • A Use Cover

  • Boomer - Slow, lumbering creatures that can lob explosive rounds from a distance. Nail perfect active reloads to enhance their Boomshot rounds with larger cluster explosions, and aim for direct hits to maximize damage upon your foes.

  • A Run / Mantle

  • RT Shoot

  • B Melee Attack

[/details] [details=Tier 4]
- [b]Berserker[/b] - Beyond any doubt, the most powerful creature in the Locust arsenal. The brutal Berserker's charge and melee fist smash are invaluable tools of destruction, and its thick armored hide can absorb plenty of damage. The Berserker is not completely invulnerable, however, and can fall to concentrated fire. Be wary of penetrating Torque Bow attacks as well as flame-based weaponry, such as the Scorcher Flamethrower and Incendiary Grenade, which can inflict huge damage to this otherwise indomitable creature. - A Charge - B Fist Smash
  • Armored Kantus - The Armored Kantus is virtually immune to bullet damage thanks to its heavy armor plating. The Armored Kantus’s destructive capacity is further enhanced by its damaging roll and dual Gorgon Pistols. Like the standard Kantus, the Armored Kantus cannot heal Tickers, Savage Corpsers, Serapedes, Berserkers, other Kantus priests, or themselves.

  • RT Shoot

  • A Roll

  • X Heal / Revive Scream

  • Savage Boomer - The last of the loathsome Boomers, the Savage Boomer’s Digger projectile launcher can devastate enemy clusters at a safe distance, even as it cowers behind heavy cover or fortifications. Like the other Boomers, the Savage Boomer can take a beating, but is most effective when carefully defended, giving it the precious seconds it needs to regenerate Digger ammo.

  • A Run / Mantle

  • RT Shoot

  • B Melee Attack

Checkout’s combat takes place in the carcass of an abandoned superstore. The shop owners tried to move their inventory with a closeout sale in the weeks leading up to the HOD evacuations, but ultimately had to walk away and leave everything to time and history. The intense close-quarters combat of the store aisles makes every decision important. Weapon selection is key, cover is essential to survival and every move has an impact. When facing your enemy, remember what the sign says: “Everything must go.”

Much has been written about the beauty of Seran culture, but people often forget the backbone of industry upon which it all relies. This shipyard stands full of undelivered goods and the necessary tools of a society’s infrastructure. Its most prominent landmark is the rotting husk of a cargo ship that will forever stand in Drydock.

This ashen street was once a bustling tourist destination known for its quaint inns and waterfront cafés. Even the water is gone now, replaced by the burnt shell of a crater that stands as a testament to the loss of Seran humanity.

Small island resorts such as this one catered to the opulent tastes of vacationing Serans. But as the Lambent infection spreads across the globe, tides are shifting to flood once popular beaches, and fierce winds batter and push at the walls of humanity’s creations.

This area was once a bustling town square filled with people, but it never recovered from the UIR mortar shellings of the Pendulum Wars. Emergence soon followed, and the already heartbroken residents were shown no mercy by Locust forces, leading to an almost immediate evacuation. This large and open central square is surrounded on all sides by sheltered passageways and buildings. A raised dais yields powerful weaponry and a view of virtually everything within range, but the power located there must be hard-earned and well-protected to provide any lasting advantage.

Old Town
Several remote areas of Sera managed to stave off the impact of Emergence for quite some time. Island towns such as this one were able to sustain themselves with small farms and a steady bounty from the ocean. But all good things must come to an end, and eventually they could hide no more. This is an excellent map for team-based play, with multiple areas that are well-suited to both attack and defence scenarios. A well-executed plan will often reap great rewards, and an enemy caught unaware can be flushed into a trap like a chicken free of its coop.

As the Lambent infection spreads across Sera, the planet is quite literally falling apart. And as the substrata beneath this forgotten overpass begin to disintegrate, the entire city block is collapsing along with it, sliding into a vast underground cavern. Head for the high ground or you just might slide along with it. Battles in this highly dynamic map often focus around the elevated Overpass, where teams can hole up and take advantage of the protected position and emplaced weaponry located there. But gaining the high ground can also be a trap, as the team left below will most assuredly use mortars and orbital lasers to regain their lost footing.

This observation post once had a commanding view of the distant horizon. Never threatened, it was thought to be impenetrable due to its unpredictable coastline and the constant shifting of sandbars along the shallow water of the coastline. And it never did fall, it was simply abandoned when humanity fled from a threat that nobody could ever see coming.

This stadium was once home to a different sort of national hero, one who fought for honour and glory, instead of scrambling for survival. The invigorating roar of the crowd has been replaced by the melancholy moaning of wind in the empty stadium seats. Stadium matches are no longer restricted to the playing field, and the team that controls the concession stands earns a great advantage. The scoreboard still keeps track of every point earned, but its frayed support cables also make it a precarious trap for anyone foolish enough to run underneath it.

The Locust have begun to carve mines and tunnels into the rocks of the Seran Deadlands, eking out any existence that resembles the underground passages of the Hollow they once called home. But this harsh environment is as relentless an d unforgiving as any enemy they’ve ever had to face. The Locust Trenches are small and tight, with clean lines of sight across virtually the entire battlefield. The central hill leads to a fortified bunker with a strategically important vantage point. Once taken, it is rarely surrendered, unless opposing forces can manage to sneak up under the cover of a passing sandstorm that leaves everyone blind for a short while.

Both teams fight to kill each other and each player has one life. No respawns.

The same as Warzone however the player must execute his enemy in order to kill him.

Team Deathmatch
Your team spawn with a total of 20 lives for the collective team/squad. Once all the lives are used for your team, it will turn into a “last man standing” game.

Capture the Leader
The opposing team will try and meatshield your leader for 30 seconds to gain a win. At the same time you are trying to protect your leader, you are trying to kill the opposing team’s leader. Leaders for each team are Queen Myrrah for the Locust and Chairman Prescott for COG.

King of the Hill
King of the Hill has been revamped and now is a mashup of King of the Hill and Annex. The goal is to hold a certain objective on the map until the time is up, which in turn will give you a point. Once you gain the point another objective will spawn on the map.

Get teamed up with a wingman which is the same character as you and fight against the other teams. The gloal is to be the last team standing. The main change in this mode is that now there is four teams of two rather than five teams of two.

You play as Locust and kill off waves of COG. Much like the mode Horde mode which has been in past Gears of War games.

Clocktower - A classic Gears of War map.

Fenix Rising

[details=Fenix Rising]The “Fenix Rising” map pack for Gears of War 3 will decorate players who are already well-versed in rolling shotguns. The new add-on, due on January 17, 2012, for 800 MSP ($10), adds five new maps, four character skins and “Re-up,” the Gears version of Call of Duty’s “Prestige.” Here, it allows players to rank through level 100 multiple times for “exclusive emblems and weapon skins.”

The new maps

  • Academy – this is the place where Fenix was supposed to learn the ways of an officer, as many in his family had done before, but it is now lost to the Horde, which means that the COGs need to clean it up;
  • Anvil – a once might fortress that included huge walls for protection covered by powerful cannons it proved to be no match for the forces of Lambent and Horde that assaulted it while Marcus Fenix met Hoffman;
  • Depths – the beautiful but hollow Azura underwater processing center where Adam Fenix made the decision to talk about the secret he kept for so long;
  • Escalation – set in Haldane Hall, the ancestral home of the Fenix family that was destroyed by locust to find Marcus’ father;
  • The Slab – also known as the Jacinto Maximum Security Prison, which is now held by the Locust.

More information:Fenix Rising will also allow players to dress up in four new character skins for Versus Multiplayer and Horde Mode: Recruit Clayton, Thrashball Cole, Savage Marauder, and Savage Kantus.
Last but not least for die-hard Gears of War 3 fans, Epic Games will introduce a new bragging system whereby players who reach level 100 can reset their experience and rank and work their way back to the top for exclusive items. Players can “re-up” three times, earning a new rank icon color each time, and gaining access to special weapons skins at the progressive Red, Green, and Gold “re-up” levels. Rewards include Re-Up Plasma, a skin featuring flowing gold plasma; Re-Up Omen, a red Omen; and Re-Up Electric, a skin sporting golden electricity.
The pack will be free for Gears of War 3 Season Pass holders, but otherwise cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10). Check out images from The Slab, Escalation, Depths, Anvil, and Academy in the gallery below.

Forces of Nature

[details=Forces of Nature]Forces of Nature was the last DLC for Gears of War 3 and was released on March 27, 2012 for 800 Microsoft Points (free with the Season Pass) and contains the following:

Five Maps: Aftermath, Artillery, Cove, Jacinto, and Raven Down
Four Character Skins: Mechanic Baird, Commando Dom, Savage Hunter, and Savage Grenadier Elite Limited.
Seven weapon skins, two will have to be unlocked.
Guardian will also return.
New achievements worth 250 gamerscore.

Although details are scarce, Epic has confirmed seven Weapon Skins for Forces of Nature, which five are available right from the get-go while the other two are earned through gameplay on the Forces of Nature maps; these two weapon skins have been based on community feedback none of the less![/details]

I dont see you going out of your way to do anything like this.

I am going to add Multiplayer later on tonight.

Great Thread.

I sense a sticky incoming.

Fingers crossed xD

Maybe cause I’ve got better things to do then copy and paste a bunch of useless information about a game that was out 5 months ago.

It was not a copy and paste it took him a while to make this >.<

Gears of war 3 hasn’t been out for more than three months yet.
