Where's my friends list?

Do we have to make friends again?

I would have to think my friends as of yesterday would still be my fiends today… but I can’t find them anywhere.

My 160+ previous friends should still be my friends.

I don’t think Discourse has a friends feature. I can’t find anything at least :frowning:

Then how is this moving forward? No friends? The only reason I stuck around for so long is that I felt I had friends on here. I know others will agree completely.

I think this Discourse thing was a bad move, not to mention it has a negative sound to it to begin with.

The old deal was just fine, just needed some upgrades.

It wasn’t fine. VBulletin was known for having vulnerabilities. We knew that there was going to be some negative reaction to change but seriously you guys aren’t even giving it a chance. You’ve only spent an hour on the forums. Everyone is complaining but no one is making suggestions on how to fix anything besides switch back to VBulletin.

Why do you need a friends list on a forum? The whole point of it is to have community discussions not to bunch together and only interact with 3-4 other people. What sounds negative about it? Like I stated in one of my post there are several large communities that are using discourse.

The bad thing about the old setup was that upgrades would have caused security holes. Most of the stuff requested by users has been hijacked by people before. I will say I didn’t like discourse when I first saw it, and I voiced it. As time has gone on though I have grown to like it. It really does just take time, it’s a new platform and new everything.

Learn to accept change. Whether you want to believe it or not , moving to discourse is a positive advancement for rebuilding a community. It’s not necessarily a “message board”, but the flow of discourse is to promote a more open environment for discussions. Which is why their website states, “civilized discussion”. When you make a post on here, it more or less reflects a simple, straight forward text message. It’s meant to flow better, which it does. I even saw 2 people post without refreshing the page as I was writing this.

Is vBulletin even updated anymore? I mean, this isn’t 2002 anymore.

If it takes a friends list to retain friends, they’re not your friends.

I understand where you and @Zodiac are coming from. You both contributed a lot to the site, and we changed everything, without notice or seeking your advice, to an unknown and confusing platform, and we are excluding you from everything. Trust me when I tell you that Discourse is less confusing and more welcoming to a first-time user. We are so used to the classic-style forum layout that we don’t notice these things. I really hope you’ll stick around to see that

Also, you were not invited to the beta because you don’t play PC games. And only a few people had access to the new forum.

I understand that. And I will stick around, and I’m sure I’ll eventually get use to it and enjoy this new thing. I have no clue what Discourse is, this is the only forum I frequent and help out on. Before I signed up on Jan 6 2013 I didn’t know ■■■■ about anything like this, I learned from paying attention to you guys lol. But I definitely can’t see this layout being easier for a first time user who’s unfamiliar with forums like this. The old one was pretty easy to navigate in my opinion, but maybe that’s because I was extremely familiar with it.

Not giving up… unless you guys want me too.

Continuing the discussion from Where's my friends list?:

I am sure that you will get used to this version. I know I am learning my ways around it, at first it was confusing, but now it seems pretty nice in my opinion.

I have mixed feelings about the forum switch, but it’s the community of people that matter, not the style of forum they use to form a community.

We can figure it out together, don’t leave me
