You have the option to keep everything or start fresh. If you elect to keep everything it goes into a windows.old folder and you will have to move it out. As for the programs I have no idea but I think you have to reinstall them.
Next question… Why can’t I see the “upgrade” icon in the lower right corner? I have performed the suggested things to do at the Microsoft website but still have got no joy… I don’t think I have the brains to use a media creation tool either.
Troy, the media creation tool that you download will give you the option of installing windows 10 onto your computer. You do not have to keep the media creation tool. Also, I do not know why the upgrade icon would be in the lower left when it should be in the lower right hand side unless you rearrange everything to your preferences.
As Zodiac said make sure it is the current windows and then look for it, or just download the correct media tool. The tool is super easy to follow, that is how I got my windows 10 because I was too impatient for it to load. Best of luck.
I have checked for updates, it comes back saying my system is upto date. I discovered though that some updates had “failed”. Not sure why but I assume this would be the problem, unsure how to correct it though…
If I am unable to get the prompt, I will look into using the Media Tool.
When I installed windows 10, I chose it as an upgrade. (for free of course) All of my stuff stayed in the same folders, and the only programs that didn’t transfer over were ones not yet compatible with windows 10
I had to install all the updates to the newest ones to be able to get the icon for it.
