Xbox One gets new firmware today

[/img]It’s been a quiet few months at Microsoft camp when it comes adding new features to the Xbox One’s OS. This month is not too different, unfortunately.

Major Nelson announced the new update with a short message. The reason is because it doesn’t bring any new user-facing features, only behind-the-scenes work.

Mianly, it further prepares the console for game streaming, which launches with Windows 10 this month. It also prepares the console for the backwards compatibility feature.

Major Nelson adds that the Xbox team is focused on the upcoming UI overhaul, which is due in the fall.

Yes, I know about this update. Back in late March there was a sign-up for a beta program on their website that allowed users to test the beta program that is suppose to add one more gigabyte of memory to your discs’ hard-drive. To those able to sign-up before they reached maximum capacity you were given a free Halo: Reach disc as well. There are a rare few that have had difficulty with installing the update, but this applies only to those within the beta program. Those that had received an error when installing the update are to contact Xbox Customer Support immediately and they will be given a new 250GB Xbox Slim.

None of what you said is related to the (automatic) Newsbot’s post.

Anyone can get into the preview program with an invite from another.
Also, the only time that people were given Halo: Reach for free was a while back. (excluding Games with Gold).
