Hi there. I’m trying to build my own little ‘hardware mod’ if you will on the Xbox One, something akin to Ben Heck’s Xbox 360 laptops.
I’m a little stuck at extending the disc drive’s cables however. Yes, one cable is a 7-pin SATA cable (the red one) and I have a longer one with me to replace it, but what is name of the other cable (yellow one)? What is that connector called, so I can find it & purchase it? Here’s a picture to show you what I’m talking about.
It’s a fairly standard connector used in computer electronics, but I just don’t know what it’s called. All I know is that it’s female and has two rows of 6-pin-columns.
It’s just the optical drive power cable. I looked around and couldn’t find any in a longer size. You could probably buy another one of the same cables like this , and use these to connect them. Don’t take my word on it as it’s hard to say without the parts in front of me, but it looks like it could work. You could also go check at a Radio Shack or similar store and see what they have to offer. Good luck on your project!
Good luck finding one. I had to contact molex to find out what connector it was and only after sending it to them were they able to tell me. Then I had to order the connectors, crimpers, and wire to make my own. My suggestion is just splice it in the middle to make it longer.
Splicing won’t do, the signal deteriorates with length. I have to make a new one using shielded wires. Can you please tell me what molex identified the connector as? I have the wires, I just need to order the connector and crimpers.
