About free games

I have a question about the free games; are they only for the epic game store of are there ones for steam as well?

Epic games are the one giving the games away. Now and then, you’d see the free game giveaways from GOG and Steam, but on a weekly basis, it’s from Epic Games.

At the moment, the free games posted in WeMod’s Free Games forum section are mostly sourced from the Epic Games Store, which is known for its weekly giveaways.

Epic has been running this initiative for several years as part of its strategy to grow its user base and support developers—especially indie studios—by offering high visibility and free marketing to them so that they can increase their reach and grow their game development company.

Steam, on the other hand, doesn’t have a regular, centralised giveaway programme like Epic does. While Steam users do occasionally free games—either through promotions by individual developers or time-limited events—these are less frequent and not part of a weekly routine. So these are much rarer and less predictable.

Sometimes—albiet even rarer—console games like Playstation and Xbox might pop up.
