Anyone play League of Legends?

I’m wanting to restart playing this again.

Want to know what the game is like these days, I’m practically a noob, haven’t played since 2010.

Is it hard to start in? Any good tutorials/guides etc?

Don’t want to play if its gonna take forever to get decent.

Thanks!

Don’t play League of Losers! Yea its quite easy to get hang of and play, but obviously takes skill to become really good just like any other Moba but id recommend trying Dota 2, IMO much better than League of Lesbians!

See Dota 2 seems too complicated, like there is more too it. What’s the difference?

The game is easy to learn but it comes with practice and patience. I suggest watching twitch streams of players you find informative. Don’t watch ones with high viewers. They are playing a different game than you. They are the 0.01% playing with the 0.01%. Their games will be different than yours, game play and objective wise. Try AI games to practice if you can’t do well in normal games. The main game concepts you need to learn is: Champions and their skills, last hitting creeps, what objectives to take and when to take them. Reddit /r/legueoflegends has a stickied thread for questions every Monday. Ask any question you want and you usually get at least one reply. As long as you put effort into seeing where you can improve and improve it, you will be better than average at the game.

Listen to this man. He’s diamond.

Unfortunately, yes I do.
If you want to get into the game I think the biggest thing you have to keep in mind is that it will always be just a game. The point of any video game is entertainment and entertainment alone. If you aren’t having fun, then you shouldn’t be playing it. Don’t take it too seriously if it ruins your experience.

I have lost interest completely in normal games in League because everyone gets too angry and takes everything very seriously. I don’t play ranked anymore because I personally have no reason to. I realized after a few years of playing that grinding ranked games trying to improve will not make me have more fun in the game.
I am happy with my knowledge of the game so now I just exclusively play ARAM’s and that is pretty much it. So now I have over 1900 ARAM games. They are less serious and I generally have a good time playing it.

Dota 2 is much harder than league is to be honest. Both games have quite a steep learning curve, but dota 2’s is much larger.

Regardless if you don’t want to take over a year to become half decent, neither of these games are for you. Unless you consider decent being playing in a really ****ty bracket and being okay compared to the rest of the people in the ****ty bracket with you. I’d play something more casual if I were you.

Dan and I were playing today and had the worst team imaginable. They had no idea how to play, which makes sense because we were on my smurf so we were put with people who only had 200 or so matches played. But you are going to be one of those players for a very, very long time. Oh and we played well btw, just not the terrible players with us.

Or you can be like Skill, and friend a Challenger League player and learn from him!

Been playing it a bit tonight.

Seems the hardest part will be knowing what items to buy and what to level at the right time.

@Travis what is ARAM?

All random all mid

All Random All Mid
Random champs are picked for you on the Howling Abyss (single lane map). When I first started playing it, I found it a fun way to learn champs that I hadn’t played before. Which I still think it is.

Cool I will give that a go. Only been playing Co-Op vs AI for practice currently.

Starting out, practice will be the best thing you can do to get better. Once you start to learn more about the game you can look to websites like Summoner School You can find tons of informational stuff there and ask any questions that you can’t find the answer to.
If you want just straight numbers and stats I use the wiki page here

My username on League is Totally Trav so feel free to add me and ask any questions you have. I have well over 2500 hours in the game

I’m currently just playing as Ashe and doing really well. I know what to use and when to use it. I’ll give ARAM a go and see how I fare.
