Ended up buying an Xbox One Elite system today. I need Xbox Live, where’s the cheapest I can get that?
nice Steven,we bought my sons xboxlive redeem code of the internet from “trademe” which is a NZ buyn and trading site…it was around $20 cheaper than warehouse,dick smith electronics etc…they sent us an email with the code and we just redeemed it with no problems at all.

I just got another Xbox one a few weeks ago and I just used the 14 day trial and waited for a good deal to popup on slick deals. Ended out paying $30 for it off ebay. Of course you are going to get screwed with conversion rates.

I found a 1 year for $35 on Groupon.com, for first time users only. You need to use promo code GROUPON10 during checkout to get $10 off the current price of $45. It’s only for US residence from what I can tell.
Are pre-paid xbox live subscription codes region blocked? Sounds like the issue here is the lack of good deals for Canadians.

The codes aren’t region locked. It’s pretty much as you assumed, not many good deals for Canadians and many other countries. A lot of US sellers don’t deal outside the lower 48 states for some reason. Luckily I found the $35 deal just in time as our Live runs out in a few weeks.
