Cant Log in

For roughly the past year, I personally have not been able to log into WeMod on any new device, even when using the correct email/username and a freshly reset password. The app consistently returns “Invalid email/username and password”, including immediately after a successful password reset.

This is not isolated to a single machine or install. I’ve personally tried:

  • Fresh installs on Windows

  • Multiple PCs

  • Multiple password resets

  • Verified credentials that work on the website

Login may work on the website, but it fails in the desktop app.

An important point that seems to have been missed in the previously closed 2024 topic: most affected users likely never posted at all. This issue blocks users at the authentication stage, which means they cannot log into the app or access community features to report the problem. The low activity or lack of follow-up in the old thread should not be taken as resolution or low impact—it’s more consistent with users being locked out entirely.

Because login is required to:

  • Use the WeMod app

  • Authenticate new devices

  • Post or reply in community topics

any user encountering this bug is effectively unable to report it. The few people who did manage to comment were likely those with an already authenticated session or legacy access, which creates a false impression that the issue is rare or resolved.

This appears to be a backend authentication or account-state issue (possibly affecting older or legacy accounts), not user error. Repeating generic advice like “reset your password” does not address the problem.

This issue is still ongoing, and I am directly affected by it. It is actively blocking access and needs acknowledgement as a real, unresolved login failure, along with escalation to someone who can investigate account authentication on the app side.

I believe I’ve identified a likely reason this has been happening.

It appears the application has transitioned from WeMod to WAND. If the old WeMod desktop app is still installed, it no longer authenticates properly. Login attempts fail even with correct credentials because that legacy application may no longer be supported or connected to the active authentication backend.

The issue seems to resolve only after:

  • Completely uninstalling the old WeMod application

  • Downloading and installing the new WAND application

  • Logging in through the new app instead of the legacy WeMod client

If someone still has the original WeMod app installed, that would explain:

  • Persistent “Invalid email/username and password” errors

  • Password resets not helping

  • Website login working while the desktop app fails

This would also explain why the problem has appeared widespread and long-lasting without clear acknowledgment: users are unknowingly trying to log in through a deprecated client.

If this is correct, it should be clearly communicated, because right now there is no obvious indication inside the old WeMod app that it has been replaced or sunset.

The WeMod app still works correctly, but you were using a very outdated version before cloudflare turnstile was added which is required.
