Destiny's Cryptarch sees a loot-happy upgrade in 1.0.2 patch

[/img]Bungie has unveiled the changes en route to Destiny in next week’s 1.0.2 patch, and they should please fans unhappy with how often the game currently offers quality loot.

“Cayde-6 took the Cryptarch aside and showed him a sack of doorknobs. He decoded that mystery pretty quickly,” reads Bungie’s most prominent note. Following the 1.0.2 patch the formerly stingy decoder will “always produce Legendary or better quality items, including Materials or Exotics” from matching engrams, while Rare engrams are guaranteed to produce “Rare or better quality” items and now feature an increased chance of spawning elusive Legendary quality items.

Additionally, Ascendant materials have been upgraded to Legendary status “to closer associate them with the gear they are used to upgrade.” Bungie warns players, however, that all Legendary engrams in your inventory once the patch goes live will be downgraded to Rares.

You know after they said this i am kind of happy they gonna do something about this cause as of right now it seems like i am stuck cause i cant get any better arm or leg gear to push me past the level 26 mark and the shards they fixed in last patch took away my legendary body and head upgrades now i have to grind even harder to get…but im no noob to a mmo type i play final fantasy 11 and that game makes you takes hours upon hours to get something even days at times…ya i camped the loot caves and chest farm and did raids but it seem like it took me agss to get my first push to the 26 mark thats with fully upgrades arms and legs but still it seems like i cant find nothing even better but grinding the reputation is little rough also but not as bad…but i will say for most people after farming and seeing a legendary engrem drop is a good feeling but haveing it turn into a crappy item is a big disappointment

Good. I’ve never had a legendary item from a legendary engram. **** was driving me insane lol.

I had to buy everything I have on my character, kinda ****ty.

Me too, I’m glad they’re doing this sick of getting blues from purples.

Like majority, I’ve had my moments where it seems as if I’ll never level up, but, after more hours of feeling stuck, the game turns around and sends me something that I could actually use and benefit from. Personally, I’d rather find/get rewarded the gear/items I use, but I did give in and purchase a set of leggings from Cayde-6, Hunter Vanguard in the Tower, using a few Vanguard marks, but I can’t really complain since I still have yet been rewarded a legendary set of leggings that had positive bonuses. (ex: Allows one to hold more Auto-Rifle ammo.)

P.S.
Of the Fireteam that was first to complete the Vault of Glass, a lot of them purchased their gear rather than grind because they knew that the chances of getting something better than what they already had was very slim. So, again, you could continue to grind hoping to get something new/better or save and purchase the gear that you need.

…the only way to achieve Lvl. 30 though is by getting Raid armor so with that you’ll just have to be really lucky!

I was wondering how the hell to get to lvl 30 thanks Snipazor and I can’t wait for this update to finally be released.

No problem, I didn’t know Raid armor existed either or that was the only way to obtain Lvl. 30, but I found out after reading some on the Destiny Reddit page; sucks too because I found myself a good set of armor that I was sure I’d reach Lvl. 30 with. (I’m Lvl. 27, almost Lvl. 28, yet all of my armor still can be leveled 2-3 more times; legendary helmet, gauntlets, leggings, and exotic chest.)

This is awesome…i have gotten so many legendary engrams, only after getting them decrypted they are not legendary

Now fix the crucible, I come top so often yet I get jack ****. Then people who are barely playing get rewarded greatly. There’s no reward, it’s a lucky dip for participating and it’s extremely hard to progress if you get **** stuff.

Honestly, you’re exactly right…after this patch goes into affect that would be the only thing still broken when it comes to rewards; unless you want to count completing a Strike and getting rewarded the same kind of item in which you could have earned via completing a mission.

I got an Exotic from a Decoherent…what…

Or they could use a better system than RNG

RNG areas that need to be fixed: engrams, Crucible, story missions and that’s it. You get rewards for completing a story mission once but nothing if you do it again which sucks because I feel like you should be guaranteed at least one rare engram or higher depending in the dificulty for finishing a story mission. Eh, probably guaranteed legendaries at level 28 difficulty.

Why on earth would you want to keep getting rewarded the same uncommon crap for completing the same story missions over and over again when you could go into those story missions, go forward in trying to complete them, and possibly earn several rare or legendary engrams just by killing the enemies that spawn. And if you want to make things a little bit more challenging, make it a higher difficulty like 28 or 30. They do not need to fix the story missions at all. Yes I agree that they need to fix The Crucible, and they are working on that. Also if you haven’t read the patch preview notes, they are going to increase the frequency of the rare and legendary engram drops, they are going to make it to where rare and legendary engrams give you rare or better and legendary or better items. The game has been out for almost a month and you expect everything to be right from the time the game gets released. Thats not how it works. A game is always going to be flawed from the time it is released. They are going to patch it and make it better over time, which is the keyword here, TIME. It is how the video game developers do things.

I feel like you have not read or understood my post at all. First, I said you should get rare or legendary items/engrams as a reward for finishing a story mission with higher difficulties yielding a better chance for the latter. Next, I am quite aware of patch 1.0.2. Lastly, I am patient enough for them to fix some things, however it should be abundantly clear that there were and still are mistakes that were created from poor judgement and descision making. Specifically, my patience has run thin for impossible bounties. Even if it is form of RNG they should be able to create a filter to adjust what is possible to obtain and what is not.

Oh I read and understood every bit of it. But that is not how the game works nor will it work that way ever. You get uncommon or rare items once you complete the story missions, and you get rare and legendary engrams from enemies randomly dropping them. Maybe once they release the expansions they will give you legendary engrams but for right now there is no other way.
