Download Horizon from this link and you will not have any issues.
I’m not so sure to download horizon because last time i got a virus from and there was a hidden search engine that came with it and yes i did on check all the opportunity’s for the search engines and it still downloaded a hidden one and it seemed to be a blue google chrome and i’m not sure to trust horizon anymore and i downloaded it from home page of horizon. I really need others experiences on this thank you…
Use the link above, as it doesn’t have any of the malware / adware that the one from CNET has.
Then you didn’t decline everything. If you download it from Here nothing else will be installed for sure. It is only the Horizon installer and is not packaged with the optionals.
Thanks for the links! The exe from the main page has several “extras” that seemed sketchy. When I deselected them in the advanced install, it stopped working like it was trying to force me to install the “extras”…
I have twice tried to install horizon from this site and neither time did the options appear to deselect any options, and both times it loaded a really unpleasant virus called istart in my browsers. lucky I had a restoration point on my pc
Try using the download link in my signature. It installs only Horizon and nothing else, I promise.
Thank you Zodiac! I really appreciated that! Even though I couldnt get it to work :-S it prompted me to have another go with the ‘official’ version on the site and i realised that yes, I had blindly accepted the istart and yahoo options the first times. Oh well, clearly my son is a better gamer than his mom is a PC user. Thanks again! you inspired me to not give up
The version in my signature is actually the most up to date version of the official software, try uninstalling the old first. You may need to right click the icon and run as administrator for it to launch.
Post back and let us know how it works out. Sorry about the third party apps bundled with the installer.
This is the reason why the main download link doesn’t just redirect to the one in my signature:
I recommend using something like HitmanPro to remove istart and the yahoo crap.
Thank you! I’ll have a go tomorrow (in my time zone!) all was going well at first, having not accepted the istart and yahoo this time, and then it started to show up in my browser half an hour later. Also thanks for the explanation from Chris. I had wondered why, after all the work and obvious popularity of the site, it let users down here! I’ll also check out Hitman Pro. Thanks again!!!
Let us know how it goes, if it is still the same I am sure me or another member will be happy to help.
avg is reporting malsign.generic.161 on the download now and removed my old version of horizon
Always install slowly and use the custom installation option instead of recommendations install option.
This is quite concerning. AVG keeps flagging it and trying to remove it, McAfee on my new laptop is going ‘lolno’ and Chrome is blocking it as well, what on earths been added in the most recent update to cause it to play merry hell like this?
Try downloading it from the link in my signature, if not change browser and disable your AV, then try again from my signature.
Tried that link, I have to disable my antivirus and change browser, but as soon as I restart and the antivirus kicks back in, it removes it.
Disable your antivirus, install Horizon, and then go into your antivirus’s settings and set Horizon as an exception for auto-protect/auto-detect. You can then re-enable your antivirus and it should be fine.
Also you can continue to download it with Chrome, after it deletes the download (once it completes), just press CTRL + J, which will open chrome://downloads/, and then you can hit restore file or something similar to that and Chrome should restore the file.
i’m getting the same problem and it doesn’t matter how many exceptions i make, avg just deletes horizon. is there another antivirus that’ll ignore avg?
I use AVG as well, and had issues a few weeks back. This solution should work for you. Delete the installer(s) you have downloaded on your PC. Now right click on the AVG icon and choose to temporarily disable protection, choose to disable it until restart, now download Horizon from the download link in my signature, now go through with the install process. Now you will want to open AVG, now click on options in the upper right hand corner, now click on advanced settings, now look at the list to the left and click on exceptions, now look for add exception near the bottom and click it, for exception type select application or file, now click on browse next to the search bar, look to the left and click on your C drive, now click on Program Files (x86) and find and open the Daring Development Folder, open the Horizon folder, open the v2 folder, now find the Horizon Application and select it, that will be what you’re making an exception for, I will leave a screenshot below so you know what to click on in the v2 folder. Make sure the 3 lower boxes are checked. Now click on Apply and then Ok in AVG. After you’re done with this process delete the Horizon installer(s) you have downloaded as AVG will continue to flag them as Malware. Now you can turn AVG protection back on and Horizon should work properly in online mode.
Add exception for this:
