[/img]Microsoft is planning to update its Xbox One console with a huge new update. The software giant provided an early look at a new dashboard update today, which is said to be “coming soon,” and there’s a lot of changes. Firstly, Microsoft appears to be moving away from the tiled interface that was introduced with the Xbox One. The new dashboard includes features that focus on speed and performance, and a design that’s a lot more simplified.
There’s one click access to things like sharing or achievements, and a new pane that can slide in when you double-tap the Xbox button on a controller. The pane appears to be the quickest way to access notifications, messages, quick settings, and your friends list. If you’re using a party on an Xbox One then this will be shown in the quick pane, and it’s easy to add and remove friends from party chat. There’s also a new trending section on the right that highlights top Xbox gamers, suggested friends, and a lot more.
Awesome news, I don’t even own a X1 yet I’m excited to see this!
Back in the day, prior to purchasing my own Xbox 360, I used to go over my friends house to play with him on his. Now, even though I went over his house to play Halo with him on a daily basis and had a lot of time invested in using the console and its dashboard, I had zero issues with it all because everything was pretty simple to find/access. With the X1 dashboard, I feel as if you can still get to that level of knowledge or comfort, but not in that same amount of time. Obviously everyone’s different and I’m sure some will dispute my opinion, I’ve just seen too many people streaming on the X1 asking their friends/chat how they do this or how they do that…
I wasn’t going to say anything, but it does seem a little like the Playstation interface…
But, if you think about it, the Playstation right now is basically a Xbox 360 with the Sony insignia.
