Easy way to mod dead island

anyone figure out how to mod the skills yet? like skill points?

Mod your level all the way to 50, use the skill points, mod your level back down

Excuse my crap grammar

1. Get your save onto your desktop

2. Make a new folder call it what ever you wish i will call it extracted

3. Drag and drop your save into horizon and go to the contents tab and extract the file into the new folder

4. Now that it is in the folder you will need to extract it again using 7ZIP right click the save and click extract here

it will make a new file called save_0~ now this is the file you modify in the editor

5. Open your save in the editor and mod what you wish as you can see i have already edited mine

6. After you have done click save

7. Next go back to your save which should be still open in horizon if you have not shut it down you would want to right click the file and then click the replace button

Now pick the file you have just edited in the editor which is save_0~ once done you can now click the rehash and resign button and then pop it into your hdd or memory card

ok so i followed your walkthrough as you said and now when i try to load my save there isnt one there. i did notice that after i rehashed and resigned that it took away the game identifier is there a step i missed or something? and why did i have to extract the file into the zip?

was i supposed to rezip the file back intoself before rehashing and resigning or something?

i try that but it wont let me go back down to level 1 i stay at level 50 and i even change the xp and level and still am at the same level, im trying to find the skill points in hex but they seem to not be theyre in the save_0~

ok so i got it to work finally, you forgot to tell us about the step where you have to reinsert the second file (post mod after the save_0~ is reinserted into it) back again into the very first origional save. i am still having a problem with level editing, though i seem to get money to work just fine, do you need to modify XP and level both?

yes you need to mod the xp for the level, also i dont re insert the save_0~ into the original and it still pretty much works

Yes i forgot to mention you need to open it up in winrar i will edit my tutorial in a little while thanks i completely forgot as you can tell im not the best at tutorials the title makes no sense know its more like hard way to mod dead island

YOu need to mke sure you change both spots where it lists your level

just finished modding my save, level stats, cash. all worked fin.

however i now seem to not have my fists as a weapon anymore, any idea how i can fix this? and what caused it? thanks again

ADDITION: i also have noticed and am having trouble returning my level back down to normal after i have upgraded it. i enter level 2 with 2088 XP (what i had when i started my modded save.) but when i load it back up it still has me at my level 46.

i have followed all the 8 steps and for some reason when i get back on nothing has changed at all, after i get done modding the save i just simply go into horizon and replace, rehash etc. and nothing. any help?

Upload your save tell me what you want and i will do it for you

I tried it and i even changed the level and xp and it didnt do anything

Hopefully someone will make a better mod tool that could mod everything like medkits, grenades, and ammo without having to hex edit anything, and where you don’t have to extract it twice -_-

Download the updated tool you still need to extract it im afraid but its easy

Lol keep watch for an update in the future the creator of the editor is working hard to update it with more items
