Hey all! Im sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this question. Also, I know that an answer would be more speculation then fact until the launch. But will the new easy anti-cheat being added to elden ring affect cheats for offline use? Im not so much afraid of a ban… though i will only play offline. I was just hoping for an assurance that the regular cheats would work for this game? Anyone out there who has experiance with AEC? Thanks for any answers. Im mostly just curious and have high hopes for friday!
Hello!
There’s no way to tell until the game is released, which is tomorrow.
The trainer development team need to buy a copy of the game in order to investigate what, if any, cheats can be added to it.
You can cheat in offline mode, you have been able to in every fromsoft game so far. I don’t see why this would be any different. But if you take a hacked character online you will get the ban. Just set steam to offline mode and there shouldn’t be any problem. Though I am not really sure what the ban does anyway, I think it just blocks you from online play. Whichever just play with steam in offline mode if you use WeMod.
The cheat is online now, but I’m afraid of using them… My game is in off-line mode but… Well…
So if you play online with a character that you have been played offline but with cheats the soft ban is guaranteed?
I’m talking about pvp non coop with friends
I used a few cheats offline and then went online with that character. Have received no bans and its been since launch day.
Do you remember what’s cheats did you used?
And it’s since day 1 you started?
It will set you with other cheaters if you get soft ban
I gave myself some runes. Nothing crazy. Didnt want the game to be to easy lol.
Probably you’r now in a server for cheaters, from software games do that when you change game files.
But is he not supposed to receive a notice if he receive the soft ban?
I have recieved no notice yet.
Not sure if i got put with a server of cheaters or not. There is tons of player activity still that i can see and I can still play with my friend who doesnt use cheats. So im not sure. Guess time will tell.
If i end up having to make a new toon i wont even mind. This game is amazing.
its been since the second day after release. i wanted to test on a burner account and i haven’t received any notice yet. all i used was the 100%dr and souls multiplier though.
if i use a mod to get my damage and health up offline for a few hours then go back online, will i get banned?
curious, but if i play offline, and just use unlimited health/stamina. and go online without wemod active. would i be banned?
I’ve replied to similar questions on the discussion of the cheat itself, but I’m happy to reiterate what I said there!
Basically, as with other 'Souls games, the same anti-cheat method MOST LIKELY applies, being:
If you edit stats in any way (runes multiplier, unlimited HP/FP/STAM, etc) even while offline, there’s real, possible chance that the anti-cheat will flag your account for illegal modification to stats.
The ban doesn’t take effect right away, however. FromSoft has always banned in waves, with multiple people getting the hammer a few weeks after their account was flagged. And before you say things like, “Well can I play with things like 100% drop rate or the runes multiplier?”, try to remember that that also is stat modification because the server keeps track of your overall stats, such as total runes acquired, steps taken, damage taken, times died, etc. Seeing an irregularity in your stats flags your account and will hit you with the 180 day ban/character deletion from the game.
And I’m no professional, there’s always a chance that you’re completely fine a week from now going online with a modded character, and yes, theoretically, you might be safer only using options like the infinite health and mana, but I would never take the chance if playing online is something you truly care about in a FromSoft game, because chances are, you’ll get caught.
As always, for best chances at NOT getting the hammer, disable your EAC and play the game strictly in offline mode (can be toggled in the network section of the settings in-game.)
You said “even off-line” then in the end “play off-line”… It is safe to do so off-line or not? It’s ok to deactivate EAC?
Basically what I’m saying is that, while some things could theoretically work online, it’s straight up safest to just not connect online at all. the risk is extremely high. I’ve been pushing the limits with most of the menu options but I won’t truly know the depths of how good the anti-cheat is until a few weeks from now, when the first ban wave hits the playerbase.
I’ll reply with my findings then, if you’re willing to wait.
If not, go ahead and mod to your hearts content, just be ready in case it does softban you.
eac what is that ?
Easy anti cheat. It’s the anti-cheating software many games incorporate (including Elden ring).
