Hex Editing Skyrim Explained Here (Others Input Is Welcome)

I found 17 instances of possible perk point locations. Hopefully I’m on the right track.

[size=14]Arrow ID’s for the XBOX. Place 1 arrow inside with your Gold in a barrel and search for one of these codes. Depending on what arrow you placed I am listing them in XBOX ID List.

That’s almost small enough to start trial and error to find it. Should be a few of them though, should only have to edit one. One would be the actual value of the players perk points, a few of them are just to display the perk points.

Last I heard though, is it was compressed info?

There is something I don’t understand. I made a lot of tests with my save game, and I am never able to find the gold id adress easily like with uploaded save game of other player.

There is something I do wrong :worried:
I have put in a barrel 1827 gold. Edit my savegame.dat and search the Gold ID.
I found 32 occurences.
So I verify all occurence to find on right the hexa value of 1827. Nothing correspond.
So I try to found directly the amount of gold in hexa and then look at left to find the gold ID.
23 occurences found, and nothing seems to correspond to gold id.

I have tryied the process with differents gold amount, and different barrel, I am never able to found the good adress.

So I try to put in barrel 3 arrows (Falmer, steel, dwarven), and then search thoses codes :
[INDENT]Dwarven Arrow = FF 41 39 BC
Falmer Arrow = FF 43 83 41
Steel Arrow = FF 41 39 7F[/INDENT]
The same, I can’t find anything, or the value on right don’t correspond to something coherent.

I don’t understand what I do wrong. I will try to make 2 saves. One with 1200 gold and one with 1250, and compare files to search differences and locate the real adress of gold.

I am using a French version of skyrim and I suspect codes are differents than US version.
My save is arround 12mo, may be there is a possibility that the game compress data to gain space and so you haven’t the possibility fo found exact codes, before unzip saves… ?

If gold is always located at 40 00 0F value, why when you search in your save game you don’t find 500+ occurences of this value ? Because of the amount of barrel, corpses, chest you have meet in the game, I suppose you must have in your save game more than 5 or 30 occurence of “40 00 0F” ? What do you think ?

Another question, are you able to explain the serialization method ? I suppose the code look like something like that :
[BARREL CODE (Constant)] [BARREL ID (Unique ID)] [ITEM1 ID] [ITEM1 COUNT] [ITEM2 ID] [ITEM2 COUNT] [ITEM3 ID] [ITEM3 COUNT]…
In this case, if everybody try to put money or objects in the same barrel, we will be able to find exactly the id of the barrel and locate easily in hexa the barrel content.

Actually I’am using the barrel located under stairs in breezehome

Your source was my thread, just saying. :L

Yes I think it is compressed. It will take someone a lot smarter than me to figure this one out.

May be you know this topic :
Skyrim Save Research

This discussion confirm that some part of save game are compressed, probably with zlib.

I had the same problem as you. The best place to do the Gold Hex is outside of the Smithy Shop next to Breezehome. I would also like to say it works great with 1500 GOLD and at least 1 to 2 items in barrel if your trying to Hex Items.

I am more curious lately with finding the Player Cell XYZ. Can do much with that… Force your way into quests that are broken via locked doors and such… As well as entering and exiting the testing hall without a pc version installed.

Anyone shine some light on if it would be compressed as well? Should be in the header and body. 8bit?

In the pc version of the game, can you retrieve the players exact XYZ and save the game for hex testing? If I have a couple saves that have the cell XYZ recorded, I could search it out.

This is what I do. Put your money in a barrel and save. Be sure to go back to the dash after save if you don’t soon as you put the memory stick back in it will over ride it. Then extract your saved file to desktop. open it with hex workshop click search. Make sure “type:” is set to 32 bit unsigned long then type in your gold value I had 679 so I type in 679 then make sure little endian is ticked and find all instances is ticked then change only the value you have. so for me I had 679 I found “A7 02 00 00” so replace it to look like this “FF FF 00 00” click save. Then open up horizon or what ever you use. I used xbox 360 tools and click import and find the file I just hexed and then click mod. then click rehash and save then close it and put the mem card back in the xbox and start the game I then had 65535 gold in the barrel. If your looking for less gold it may be hard as there are many values in the save file. my searches for less money failed until I hit a gold value that was easer to find such as 679 gold… Hope this helps you good luck:thumbsup:
