How to play games from external HDD?

I have just purchased a modded Xbox 360 Elite (Prod. Sep 2009)

Unsure of the exact mod but I’m assuming some form of chip.

There is no custom dashboard and no ability to play games via external HDD.

I have downloaded and rehashed XEX 1.1 using Horizon, but it appears as corrupted on my 360.

Where do I go from here? What dashboard should I install and how do I play games from external HDD?

It sounds like you bought a 360 with a flashed optical disc drive. All that does is allows you to play burnt games. If XEX is coming up as corrupted than you don’t have a Jtag or RGH modified 360.

Or if it has LED mods or case mods that could be why it was sold as a ‘Modded’ 360.
