Minecraft (Xbox One) Releases this Friday

Microsoft has just announced that the long awaited Xbox One version of the highly popular sandbox game Minecraft will be released via digital download on Friday for $19.99, but people who already own the Xbox 360 version can get the Xbox One port for just $4.99.

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft has sold over 13 million copies since it launched for the console in May 2012. The Xbox One port, developed by 4J Studios, will likely be a big hit as well. Microsoft says:

“With worlds up to 36 times larger than on Xbox 360, now there’s an even bigger canvas to create on. Transfer your favorite Xbox 360 worlds and content to the Xbox One Edition so you won’t lose your creations. Join a community of 13-million-plus Minecraft fans on Xbox Live that are continually laying down imaginative creations. And, with the widest range of downloadable content on console, you’ll never run out of new worlds to explore with four player split-screen on one console or up to eight players over Xbox Live.”

If you prefer to get your games on an old fashioned disc via a retail store, the Xbox One version of Minecraft will be sold in that form sometime before the end of 2014. If you are an Xbox One owner are you excited about Minecraft appearing on the console this Friday?

Any details on if the upgrade works if I only own the disc version of minecraft, not the digital copy?

I don’t think it will. The digital game will use the license to notify that you have the Minecraft Xbox 360 edition when it releases. You know how Microsoft thinks. Your copy could be a friends copy.

Didn’t buy it then, not buying it now

I bought tho game in 2012 and didnt even play it much. My little brother will love it, though.

Yeah, the game just doesn’t interest me at all

Ever play with friends?

Wow, you’re apart of the “list” of people I know in which don’t like Minecraft; which always surprises me because A LOT of people, including myself, enjoy playing the game because it’s the video game version of Legos. Lol

Just play lego star wars, lego batman, or lego indiana jones.
There’s too many squeakers that play minecraft, it’s really annoying.

I do, but in the same breathe I enjoy playing Minecraft because it allows one to create anything they can imagine.
…majority of the time I entertain myself by building Redstone contraptions that are either for show or use.

I’m not trying to reprimand anyone who doesn’t enjoy Minecraft as much as myself, I’m just saying that there are a lot of people who enjoy the game so to find someone who doesn’t is just like “What, are you serious?”.

Then remove all the squeakers from your friends list.

Destiny comes out tuesday so ummm no…
