Not being installed to a suitable location…

All our stuff is on an additional drive.
Our C drive is fairly small and used exclusively for Windows files and very specific other files.

Due to this, we are not willing to install WeMod in it’s current state as it forcefully installs on to the smaller system drive, instead of our much bigger software and gaming drive.

It would be appreciated if you let us choose where to install the software, thank you.

Hey there! Unfortunately, WeMod needs to be installed on the main drive because it relies on specific file paths like C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\WeMod and C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\WeMod. You can technically move all the files, but when WeMod updates, it will return back to the original location. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused you.

Steam and Palworld are installed on our external drive and have no issues access the AppData folder on the main drive.
Same for Creativerse, and any other software we install.

WeMod isn’t self-contained. As such, additional files are required to be downloaded when you use the trainers. By utilizing appdata, WeMod can download these necessary files without repeatedly prompting for administrative permissions. As Genie explained, you have the option to relocate the app after installation, although there are specific reasons why it defaults to its initial directory. The app itself is relatively compact, occupying only about 95MB. Consequently, it should not significantly impact your storage space unless you’re working with a very limited capacity.

I will make sure to pass along your feedback though for consideration.

Again, we have software that accesses the AppData folder while the software installed on another drive; and they do not request administrative permissions every time — at least to our knowledge.
Palworld is installed on our external drive, but all of the world data and player data is saved on the C drive in AppData and is frequently written to and deleted from during gameplay since we host multiplayer games.

Our external drive is 5TB; and is much, much bigger than our internal one.

We once attempted to use a directory link to redirect one of our other apps that stores gigs of data in it’s AppData to a folder on our external drive — but our external drove is a HDD, and the internal one a SSD, and the HDD was too slow to write to.
So ther server data was moved back to the true AppData for faster reads and writes.
But the games remained in the external drive, since the software doesn’t need to be read from and written to constantly.

Anyway, thank you for bring my concerns to the higher ups.
We’re aware it may not be a big issue for most people; but it bothers us.
We’ve expressed our troubles, and you said you’d bring it to the attention of the higher ups; so I think our brain will be less bothered by it.

Thank you for your time, and sorry for being a bother.
