Pinnacle Studio Recording Tool

Hey guys. So I was cleaning out a box with a bunch of wires and other internet hardware and other crap and I came across a Pinnacle Recording Tool. I asked my brother about it and he said he used it to record video game clips and upload them to youtube. I have never used any recording software outside of the xbox 360 or xbox one, so I was wondering if anyone here knows what I would need to do in order to get this thing working so I can start working on my own clips? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im not 100% on this, but i believe its a tool you get when you buy a Dazzle.
A buddy bought one back in the day, it was a shitty recorder but it got things done.
And that was the recording and editing tool.

Idk but it was s***, anyway idk if it got better by the years tho.
Try to google dazzle video recorder or something.

This is the Dazzle which allows people to record video from analog composite sources

And then this is the Pinnacle tool that I have, and oddly enough, it does the same thing that the dazzle does. And odd as it is, they are both made by Pinnacle Systems.

Yeah, problem with these tools if i remember correctly is that the cables goes into the device.
But not out on the other side. I think you can use that. But i suggest a splitter of some sort.

Or else you wont see it on your tv.

I am still trying to figure it out. I was hoping that someone on here would be able to help me. There is something on the other side of the device that plugs into my usb which is supposed to transmit video from my tv to my computer. I wish I had the money for an elgato game capture. But those things are expensive.

I believe if you plug in Video and LR Audio.

Then the capture program should pick up the signal automaticly.
If you have done it right.

However, i dont know what capture program that is, if its the same or anything like that one my friend had.
Maybe you need to choose a source or something?

The device seems basic. Video/audio input with a usb output. If the recorder requires a program you will need to find out the device name/sn. If there is still a label on the device that should help but if there isn’t one, plug the device into a computer and go to the device manager, if you are lucky you will find the right name and not just something generic like “recording device”.

The device might be old enough for your OS not to support it though. Then shady third-party drivers would probably be required.

Oh, almost forgot. Is there a status led indicating that the device is powered?

Edit: according to my research, the device in the picture you posted is called “pinnacle studio moviebox plus” and the software you use with it is called “pinnacle studio 10”.
