Rome 1 total war help please modern pc

hey everyone i know this is a silly question but its been bugging me today and its probably irrelevant to infinity i tried to play rome 1 on my pc but i get low fps like 9 fps for instance lol my computer is a i5 6600 gtx 1070 win 10 8gb ram ive tried posting on steam and looked for answers online for hours for a fix so i can play it on a modern pc my only other option is maybe trying to play it on my old amd laptop instead of my new desktop im wondering if anyone has any ideas on way of a fix for this old classic?

Rome 1 only uses 1 core so it might help to dedicate 1 core for the game. I hear a lot of people that have problems with the game on newer Pc’s I’m not one of them and I don’t know a fix for that.

i got some more fps last night with playing around with it but not as much as i would like i tried my older comp and it didnt work either very well i hear some people say that its best to have it on disk because steam version is bit funny and ive tried parking 3 of the cores and it didnt really do much there is plenty of anwsers online bout it but i didnt really understand it cause im not very tech savvy with some things if only someone could help me with that lol

If you open the task manager and right click on the rome 1 process you can set its Affinity. What this means is which CPU the game uses. Also don’t park CPU’s it makes it slower not faster. Will not search for those things online you mentioned. You can quote something you don’t understand and I might look into it. Rome 1 is a very old game though not very much optimized so it will be hard to get it running perfectly on every system. Like I said I have no problems with it.

op can you try playing the game on Windows 7 or XP/vista ? if that’s a very old game, then older OS might help, rather than win 10. not sure tho.

also try compatibility mode

hey nicetomeetyou il try see which core uses the most thanks and there was one thing in the steam discussions that i didnt understand something about a large address aware to help the game its posted on techpowerup i saw it when typed in large address aware on google and sanddovers il give that a try thanks

i seem to be getting around 40 to 60 fps so i think that its ok but still curious bout the large adress aware dunno what that is lol
