Just to add to this — even if bypassing the server-side checks is technically possible (likely involving LUA or deeper manipulation), it’s probably against 2K’s Terms and Conditions and their Security/Code of Conduct policies. Since Civ VII now ties progression to your actual 2K account and syncs with their servers, any attempt to bypass those checks could violate their policies. That’s likely why trainer developers like WeMod won’t risk going further — the game actively detects and reacts to modified data, even in single-player. Without an official sandbox mode from 2K, a clean workaround probably won’t happen… I hope my assumptions are proven wrong.
That means its no singleplayer at all, the whole game is based around multiplayer?
It’s Denuvo, so it requires you make an online handshake for activation purposes, so you CAN play offline… but you have to completely disconnect your PC from wifi or ethernet. The downside seems to be that your account gains no experience and no data for challenges or achievements are tallied. They are planning on a future update making the game have full offline support for in-game experience and challenges and achievements and the like
But you can take your PC offline and play, though the issues present using this trainer are still somewhat present because the anticheat baked into the game itself continues to monitor data kept in the memory which trainers alter for the desired effect… so, eventually it will detect the alteration and the game crashes…
it’s the anticheat that’s creating the headache… if you are connected and play the game with the trainer the server will trigger a response from the anticheat, even if you’re playing entirely solo… some of the cheats don’t affect the game’s challenges so it doesn’t monitor that aspect, but many options do, especially resource and money related cheats, so the game’s engine basically kills its own process…
once they introduce a fully offline solo play then I’m sure the trainers can be updated accordingly so long as they don’t CONTINUE to make the anticheat enforce itself upon a mode that cannot affect anyone else’s experience… I mean, that would be pretty stupid of them if they did that
so… you know they’re probably going to do that -_-
using Denuvo is problematic to begin with, though kind of pointless considering it was cracked before the game even released… which rendered it a completely worthless thing that just eats system resources lol
Game has been updated to 1.1.1
Please update the mods
got pulled to the fair use page again rip (started the launcher in game already)
the game has an anticheat and makes background handshakes with the 2K servers while playing
theoretically, fully disconnecting your device from the internet entirely could work, but the anticheat is baked into the engine so.. it doesn’t
as of this point in time, updating the trainer won’t have any affect, the game will still crash when the anticheat detects an inconsistency in the data held in RAM or when the server makes a handshake
if you use the trainer with any mode other than a single player game, 2K bans your account and you cease being able to unlock things as your account levels up in-game. Repeat offenses causes Steam to either ban your account from online access, or block you being able to ever get achievements from this game.
There’s already been some folk grumbling over that over on Reddit.. so it’s happened to a handful of peeps already..
they’ve effectively pulled what Blizzard did with Diablo 3 and 4 and made Civilization 7 an online service game..
they did say there will be a fully solo mode but it isn’t slated for the near future
It’s almost like DRM is more meant to hurt the experience of people who actually buy the game instead of preventing piracy.
I just don’t understand how a mod from Nexus Mod can get around Denuvo but these trainers can’t. Yes, I understand the nature of WeMod is it can be changed on the fly, but at the end of the day it is still just a mod. This is nothing against MrAntiFun they are busting their butt to do this for us, I am just confused as to why the DRM seems to pick and choose which mods to go after, almost like 2K has something against WeMod.
Seems like my Instant research is not working. Any update on that one?
this cheat panel is in civfanatics forum
thats an older pic but it also adds population and gives wildcard points
not sure why this can work and wemod cannot
been using it for past 3 games zero issues
this will work until wemod can figure out a solution
WeMod is the most ease of access modding available, most of the time the idea of replacing files and installing real mods is too much for the general player to bother with - it can become tiresome - and as such this platform has the biggest target on its back when it comes to anticheat software as well as publishers themselves.. Ubisoft Connect uses mutating algorithms to do handshakes and the like, so if you make a trainer for one of the games that Connect heavily monitors you would literally have to continuously alter bypasses to mask the changes a trainer makes to the active memory strings.. which is completely unfeasible.. beating Denuvo and other DRM is a simple matter, its the online-service effect of anticheats, which is now becoming baked into game engines in general, which are the biggest hurdle.. in some cases they’re essentially impossible to get past, or such a headache they aren’t worth bothering.. and I completely understand.. if I had a trainer that worked for Civ 7, I would be uploading variation updates to it multiple times a day just to keep it worthwhile for the users.. this game’s baked in anticheat has already defeated this trainer’s last update basically the hour it went live.. it seemed to work, and then it just didn’t and caused the game to crash almost immediately..
2K is pushing for every published game they have to be a semi live-service sort of game.. fully single-player, but the engine and DRM check for inconsistencies in memory seemingly with no clear patterns.. it could be during data loading one minute, then as it autosaves the next.. that’s why we see less and less 2K titles get trainers.. it isn’t that you can’t make them, it’s that you pretty much have to release an update a day just to keep the trainer functional anymore.. and the way the 2K sports related games function even in solo-modes, they treat cheating offline as egregious as if you tried using the trainer in multiplayer modes… lol
there’s a line where eventually you as the trainer maker go “yeah, ■■■■ that” and you move on haha
thank you, I wasn’t sure when that would get cleared for use, but I knew it was being worked on
that alone is more than what I ever use in a Civ title lol
also, a mod like that doesn’t inject changes into the memory like a trainer.. whatever it changes, the anticheat will view as if the game itself was designed to do that and won’t see anything wrong with it… at least, not until 2K take notice.. lol
I got same problem
I’m actually pretty pissed at 2K. If wemod is open on your system, you don’t even have to have it activated, 2K barfs out and crashes the game. That’s a level of bullshit control they shouldn’t be able to have. You have no right to know what processes I am running, and if those processes are running and are not actively affecting your processes… eff you.
I absolutely agree. It is ridiculous.
Weird. I posted the exact same mod in here but it looks like my comment was deleted as it’s no longer here.
did you post a link to it ?
I did. They deleted it. Said they don’t allow competition.
It’s not a competition when one side is doing it right while the other can’t even start the game.
I agree although i can’t really blame wemod too much. Their app works the way it works and even though i think they should make changes so they’re not so limited by a single app for every game I more blame 2k for their BS with anticheat on SINGLE PLAYER. It’s ridiculous.
