All info about the ‘New’ Call of Duty will be posted here.
[5/10/13]
Clearly Activision have been made aware of a small pocket of the population that are yet to have a Strong Opinion on their unstoppable FPS franchise. In which case, there’s only one thing for it: deploy a free Steam weekend in the hope of tempting the last remaining vestiges of Call of Duty innocents to invite Black Ops 2 through their bandwidth.
It’s good news for veterans, too: this influx of new recruits handily coincides with a Double XP weekend, which will be running from now until Monday.
For any trial players who manage to avoid the XP-hungry knives and bullets of the CoD hardcore long enough to glean some enjoyment from the game, there’s also a 33%-off sale to take advantage of, bringing the game down to a still rather-pricey £26.79.

Multiplayer Detailed
[details=Open Me]According to game director David Vonderhaar, deathstreaks have been eliminated as there’s “no Second Chance; there’s no Last Stand, there’s no Final Stand.”
“There’s no combination whatsoever of perk or deathstreak that puts the guy in the downed state in multiplayer,” he said. “It’s still used as the revival state in Zombies when you get downed. But it’s not in multiplayer – there is no perk and there are no deathstreaks, so there is no Final Stand or equivalent of it.”
Regular streak rewards will be handed out instead, and while rewards will “wrap around,” players can’t earn more than one of a type.
“Let’s say you took UAV and Counter UAV,” Vonderhaar explained. “If you earned the UAV then earned the Counter UAV, you’re going to start building again for the UAV – but if you haven’t spent it, if you haven’t called it in or activated it, you’re not going to get a second one. You’re just going to get notified that you’re back at that part of the chain.
“You would definitely want to activate those scorestreaks so when you loop, you’ll get them again. It’s not like Black Ops 1, which is they just keep going forever and you effectively have to die to loop. You don’t have to die to loop at any point; you’ll just keep looping.”
There will even be a new optional feature included which will allow players to hear the last words spoken by someone they have killed.
“It’s an option that you can turn on and off in custom games,” he said. “We gave it a name – Revenge Voice. It’s on in public games; we can turn it off in league play if we want. We love that thing. It’s funny.”
Vondehaar also explained various unlocks and Prestiging, and you can find out more through the link.
Below, there’s also a video below, which you may or may not have seen already, showing competitive gameplay.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out November 13 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. You can get hands on with the multiplayer portion at the EG Expo September 27-30.

Campaign Detailed
[b][details=Open Me]Screenwriter David Goyer (The Dark Knight, Superman: Man of Steel) returned to help Treyarch develop the time-bending tale, and create what both parties believe will be an unforgettable villain in Menendez. Lamia can’t help but remind me that Goyer was responsible for Heath Ledger’s Joker.
Both Masons will receive help from Frank Woods who somehow did not die in the original Black Ops. In that game’s campaign he tackled villainous Victor Kravchenko, who was wearing a belt of live grenades, out a window. Hidden intel in Black Ops hinted at the possibility of Woods being alive at a POW camp in Hanoi.
A very old Woods is still alive in 2025 and a narrator of sorts in Black Ops 2. He explains what happened in the 80s while on assignment with Alex Mason and why it matters in the game’s present.
Woods has an ongoing story of his own, and though it’s unclear, the Treyarch team hinted at a major third-act reveal imagined by Goyer. Maybe I’m way off, but could Woods have been brainwashed in Hanoi like Alex Mason was in Vorkuta in the original Black Ops?
Anyhow, in the late 1980s, which will be roughly a third of the game, you will see how Menendez becomes a monster of a man, and in 2025, you will see what he’s capable of. It’s rather unsettling.
What’s most important, though, Lamia tells me, is believability. “We gotta be grounded,” he repeats time and again, like a holy mantra.[/details][/details][/b]
