Wemod was a better name than Wand

I presume Wand is an acronym, what does it stand for?

@Kahnite - I can not find that it is an acronym, its just a marketing brand

@Fibby76 - I see where you are coming from but Wand is not it. WeMod expanding is fine but pick a name like WeGame, or WeHub, keep the WE as that is what this brand use to stand for, community.

@Poonter - You are right and wrong. Back in the days of console gaming, “Mods” as we know them now, did not exist, any time someone would say a BO1 Modded Lobby on 360, it would be a lobby with hacks and cheats, not “Mods” as we see today. That is where the WeMod name came from as us OGs remember, wemod use to be “Horizon” a cheating tool for XB360, then when they came to the steam community, they rebrand to WeMod, pulling on that 360 heritage as they mooved to a new era.

I feel that ‘Wand’ in this context and in the current market will either be, as someone(OP?) mentioned, confused with a certain brand of witches and wizards, or as just another “AI”/ChatGPT masquerading as an app.

And since I can see no more links to the forum posts for games in-app anymore, and the support page has been shuttered and replaced with a “Read this article, was it helpful?” page, that fear and confusion is just amplified. It’s like shouting in a megaphone ‘We don’t want to engage as much with the users anymore, let’s make it hard for them to voice things!’. Now I’m pretty certain that isn’t what you guys are going for, but the optics do look a bit bad.

And finally, if Wand(s) and magics should be part of the brand, I feel that ‘WeWand’ or ‘WeMagic’ and similar continuations of the ‘We’ legacy are missed opportunities. :+1:

Thank you everyone for the feedback, I’ve relayed it to the team.

The name WeMod tied us to mods, but our platform has become much more maps, guides, and other tools that make gaming smoother and more enjoyable. Wand reflects that evolution and our commitment to making every gaming experience feel magical.

The only thing Wand reflects is your team being tone deaf towards the user base. As someone mentioned above, mods isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when you think about what WeMod offered anyways. Sure you can modify your gameplay experience, but it has nothing to do with “mods.” WeMod still works as a name because we still modify our gaming experience, even further with all the other bells and whistles like maps and guides.

Wand does nothing for no one, except some one thought it was a good idea and rolled with it without doing any kind of research.

feels like we’re arguing with a chatbot

wemod primarily makes cheats for steam games. steams platform already provides maps, guides and other tools to make gaming smoother and more enjoyable.

the changes here provide absolutely nothing that wasnt already available

But theyve apparently made up their minds despite nothing but negative reactions to the change, so we’re all just wasting our time debating it

Guys, going around throwing insults isn’t helping anyone. Chill.

I, too, dislike the name change. I can understand WHY they change it but it just doesn’t fit it imo. Generally and universally? Yes. But that’s about it. Still, tho, just like Twitter(X), “Wand” is still Wemod, to me and anyone else. You don’t forcecibly have have to call it by it’s new name, even they said it.

I agree with you, wand is one of the worst names wemod team could have choosen.

The whole identity used to lie with WEMOD name, which clearly suggested that we MOD the game simple.

no one comes here for any tutorial or anything, all of comes here for unlimited health, no reload cheat not for other perks that the staff suggested.

I have never used their map etc .

Thew new Name and new Identity is utter waste of wemod team thinking nothing else.

Now they have become another Harry Potter BRAND. lmao

It’s quite clear from the comments that no one here asked for maps, guides, or recording features.

Not that it matters, just like the name Wand, WeMod is not interested in what we think or actually want.

This is kind of where I am at. I don’t really care about the names, but I’m not happy about the simple trainer program I loved becoming a video tool, guide tool, game assist tool and whatever else. Typically, products that do one thing can often do that one thing very well versus products that try to do many things do none of them well. When I saw the change and before I came to the forums, my first concern was that the trainer features were going to be watered down while focus was split between all of the new features I don’t even want. There are still games I am waiting for support for which I assume will be forgotten about forever and I’ll be back to downloading sketchy trainers from the internet to support. Additionally, I’d love to see new specific “mods” added to games, but I guess that’s going to be tossed aside in favor of time spent working on maps and video recording.

The instant I saw the change from WeMod to Wand, my very first thought was, “this is the beginning of the end of this tool.”

I agree.
Aside from the new name, which I still don’t quite understand what prompted them to change, I also liked the original Wemod, the one with only the cheats to choose and activate.
It’s precisely this simplicity and functionality that pushed me to become a “pro.”
Now it’s all confusing, with all those features, maps, and so on, which I personally don’t even use!!
I still support them, though, because the team is truly good people, even when I contact them for assistance (I’m writing from Italy), they’re always kind and helpful, despite the distance!

I’d prefer all that money and effort be invested in giving us more trainers for old or lesser-known games, rather than on features I’m not interested in and have never even used. I also agree that the name change does more harm than good.

I did like the name wemod but I kind of agree that the name wemod didn’t fully represent what they do, but the name wand is a bit confusing because of all the other stuff for “wand” like harry potter wands or toy wands so it may be difficult to install because of all the other searches so I think instead of naming it wand it should be named something unique like “gamiverse” or “wandmod” or something like that so its unique and can be found easily.
