Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 update is now available to download. Windows 8 users will see a notification in the Windows Store with a prompt to upgrade to the new operating system. Microsoft has added a number of improvements with this update, including built-in Bing search, smart SkyDrive syncing, and visual changes to the Start Screen and application snapping. I have yet to download it but it seems to be getting some good reviews. Apparently you will have to download all your apps and what not again though.

Wasn’t there already Windows 8.1? Or was it in Beta? If it was in Beta, is this the Full version?

The previous 8.1 release was a preview. This is the GM version.

I loved Windows 8, and then this update made me love it even more. Reasons?

  1. I can actually make the Start Screen mine, different wallpaper, color combinations, tile sizes, ect.
  2. Faster boot than my Windows 8 before it. (Only by 2 secs. but it is faster)
  3. BOOT DIRECTLY TO DESKTOP!!!
  4. Many new apps and easier PC Settings.

If you have Windows 8 installed, you just need to go to the Windows Store and download the update, it is free.

I just read that you won’t be able to update to Win 8.1 if you have activated your Windows throgh KMS… Many people won’t be able to update…

Windows 8 needs to be Activated in order for you to download the Update from their store.

Im glad i have an option to remove it.

Just remove kms and make sure your updates are up to date then click the link. Im having same problem using kms 2.

cool idk if i had the preview or not but i’ve had the one with the start menu for like 2 weeks dowloading this now

You need to update to Windows 8 first.

The update is on Windows Store.

Can’t update because of the annoying error 0xC1900102. :anguished:
