tl/dr: ScriptHookV doesn’t work on Xbox. Read the boldened and underlined words, and throw the “Example:” sections into ChatGPT.
You are mixing up modding on PC and modding on Xbox360. Also, everything you’re looking for is not possible on a stock (“unmodded”) Xbox 360. Even with a modded Xbox 360 (officially known as an “RGH” or a “JTAG” Xbox 360), many of the things you’re looking for are not possible to do or will put your account and/or console at risk of being banned. In addition, online modding is not a topic that is allowed to be discussed on most forums.
Here are some things to know before modding, and about modding:
1. If it’s too good to be true, it’s most-likely a virus.
While looking for mods, I bet you’ve come across videos and tools that claim to “work on any console” or “only require your username to be entered”. These videos tell you to download the “free tool” in the description, and you will click on some link that pulls up a bunch of ads on your computer. If a tool claims to unlock free in-game points that you would normally have to pay real money for, it’s a virus. If a tool claims to work on multiple types of consoles like “WORKS ON PC/XBOX/PS5”, it’s a virus. Stay away from clickbait videos like this that get you super excited to click their link.
2. You will get banned at some point while modding
-
When you mod, it is not a question of if you get banned, but when.
-
You will 100% get banned at some point in time while modding. Everyone gets banned at some point in their modding adventures.
-
There are different types of bans you can receive. Account Ban (No longer able to access your xbox live account - forever), Game ban (No longer able to play GTA V online - forever), Console Ban (no longer able to connect to Xbox live on your Xbox 360 - forever). Based on the type of mods you use, you can put your account and/or console at risk of any (or all) of the above bans.
3. Modding methods vary based on the device you’re using
-
There are different methods to modding, and these methods vary based on the console or platform you are playing on.
-
The tool you came across called “ScriptHookV” uses a modding method called “scripting”. The tool only works for PC gamers, and is only available for use in single-player mode or a dedicated modded GTA V server (on PC, you can join custom GTA V servers to play on compared to playing on Xbox360). It involves injecting custom code into your installation of GTA V. Scripting (in the conventional sense that you are looking for) is not possible on Xbox 360.
-
Modding on Next-gen consoles (Xbox One, PS5) is 99% not possible. The 1% possibility is when someone on an Xbox One joins a modded lobby being hosted on an Xbox360. However, there are very few games where this is still possible.
-
To achieve your goal of modding GTA V on Xbox360, you would need to dedicate this amount of time (at a minimum) to each of the below sections:
Foundational knowledge (5-20 hours of reading online forums and watching YouTube videos about how modding works for your gaming platform).
-
This will teach you what modding methods are available on Xbox360, and the requirements for performing each method. It will also walk you through the common tools used for each method, and how to use those tools.
-
Example: What is soft-modding, and what is Hardware-Modding? What prerequisites are needed to perform either modding method on an Xbox360?
Game-based modding knowledge (20-40 hours of reading online forums and watching YouTube videos about how modding for a specific game works on Xbox360)
-
Learning how you can leverage each modding method on Xbox360 to perform certain mods for a given game
-
5-10 hours “basic single-player/offline modding”, 10-20 hours for “online modding”, 5-10 hours for “advanced single-player/offline modding”).
-
Example: What soft-mods exist for GTA V on Xbox 360? What hardware-mods exist for GTA V on Xbox 360?
4. If you don’t want to learn how to code, modding can cost money
- It costs money to purchase a modified Xbox360 / send-in your xbox to be modded
- It costs money to purchase “premium” tools that can sync to your modded Xbox360 from your PC
- While not allowed, it costs money to use a modded Xbox360 online
- Neither I or the WeMod company, its affiliates, or employees condone the online-use of modded Xbox 360s by paying for stealth servers that will “spoof” your Xbox into looking like a normal Xbox 360.
5. DIY hardware modding is cheaper, but takes much longer to do.
If you want to RGH your Xbox 360 yourself, you’ll need to dedicate:
- ~20 hours towards reading and research (deciding on a glitch chip based on motherboard compatibility, finding and purchasing a nand dumper, finding and downloading all necessary software to flash your nand and program your glitch chip with the best timing files)
- 10-20 hours of soldering practice. Depending on your motherboard type, the solder point sizes range from 1.2mm x 1.2mm on old motherboards to 0.6mm x 0.6mm on Corona motherboards. For reference, a US dime is roughly 1.35mm thick.
If you are playing on PC, some mods you’ve listed are simple scripting mods / plugins while others require a certain level of knowledge in game-development to accomplish. It’s a long, winding road of trial and error to achieve many of these mods for PC and an even longer road for Xbox360. I’m not saying it’s impossible to achieve on Xbox, but it will take you many years (even with advanced coding knowledge) to achieve all of these outcomes on an Xbox 360.
Hope this helps, and if you do decide to pursue learning how to mod on Xbox, take a look at this guide I wrote a while back (it covers the basics for Xbox).
