Infinite loading screen after successful installation

After downloading and running the installation executable, and receiving the confirmation that it has downloaded successfully, I’m stuck on the introductory loading screen forever. I’ve made an exception in windows defender, and I see the same screen. I’ve attempted to run it as an administrator. When I do that, it opens briefly, does the pre-load, and closes. It’s not running in the background, it’s just closed. None of the other current threads have provided a solution to my problem.

Hey! Welcome to the community

Have you checked task manager CTRL+SHIFT+ESC? Sometimes multiple instances get opened and hang the program. If you find multiple instances in task manager of WeMod, then you should end them and try opening again.

Thank you for the fast reply! Every time I’ve opened Wemod, it always says there’s 4 running. I tried closing 3 of them individually, but the last one didn’t close. it seems to only ever want 2 open at a time. In addition, the loading screen is now completely black and unresponsive. Progress!

(PS: If it makes any difference, I’m running wemod from this download)

No problem! Just happened to check the forum. Try downloading from here: https://api.wemod.com/client/download.

Well, i got a new pre-loading screen!

Unfortunately, the loading screen is still taking forever (Or, at least, as long as I’m willing to wait before assuming it’s going to take forever.) And it still says there’s four processes in the task manager.

OK! If it completes the install and it still isn’t opening, then here are some questions:

  • Are you on a school/work network that has managed policies?
  • Do you have any antivirus aside from Windows Defender?

No, and no.

Hmmm… something is definitely blocking the program from launching

Maybe a clean reinstall:

  1. Uninstall via control panel [add/remove programs]
  2. Delete WeMod folders located here (if they still exist):
  • C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\WeMod
  • C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Roaming\WeMod
  1. Reboot your PC
  2. Reinstall from link in my last post

Nothing, unfortunately…How long are the loading screens supposed to last?

Usually less than 20 seconds depending on PC performance. Would you be opposed to a TeamViewer session? If you’re up for it, PM me by clicking my profile pic then click ‘Message’.

No, thank you. As much as I’d like to get this to work, I think I’ll try my luck with messages. My computer is higher-end, so I wouldn’t expect it to take any amount of time over 20 seconds.

Understood, my PC is higher end as well so I understand your concern. My job consists mostly of remote sessions or phone calls where I can’t physically see the issue at hand so I’ll try my best .

I’ll send as many pictures as needed, then. I’ll post again tomorrow after I check if my network does have any restrictions, as I do have some things blocked. Not sure why WeMod would be, but we’ll find out tomorrow. For now, I’ve spent well more than enough hours trying to get this to work for one day.

Sounds good. One more thing to try is to white-list the main WeMod executable files in Windows Defender:

  • C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\WeMod\Update.exe
  • C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\WeMod\WeMod.exe
  • C:\Users\YOURUSER\AppData\Local\WeMod\app-x.x.xx\resources\app.asar.unpacked\static\unpacked\auxiliary\WeModAuxiliaryService.exe

Here are instructions for your reference: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4028485/windows-10-add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security.

Feel free to post back here and either myself or someone passing through will respond

EDIT: Second thought, you can try a VPN like WindScribe and try another clean install while using the VPN. Here’s the download link for it: https://windscribe.com/install/desktop/windows.

Hey, that worked! Thank you very much for the help!

I was having the issue and this worked for me, too. Worked just fine for months…I guess Windows Defender didn’t like the latest Wemod update. Cheers!
