Is there a way to convert a 4 pin xbox fan header

to a 3 pin fan header as his tutoral he uses a different mobo to the one i have?
What I’m trying to do it get 2 60mm Noctua fans and use them as a replacement cooler for my xbox.
4th pin in just for speed control so if you don’t mind it running at 100% all the time then just leave it out. At least on PC that is how it works.
That’s not a typical 4 pin fan plug tho, to me it looks like a CPU power hahah

One of them controls the speed for sure. There’s no other way the console could control it itself.
Hmm so what I want to do wouldn’t be possible on my motherboard then? Because it has 3 pin header so I don’t get how that differs
I know it’s possible because an old fan that I bought came with a converter cable. It’s all the way at home though. Otherwise I’d try to figure it out for you.
What would the connected be called because I’ve had no luck googling it 
Ok so I need to know before we go any further what type of xbox it is and the exact fans. To my knowledge MS has never used a connector like that and noctua doesn’t either.

Am I missing something? Cut the fan wires and solder them to a new male connector. Wire 1 and 2 (usually red/black) should be just power and 3 and 4 should be rpm control. Is the “transformation” 3 to 4 pin or 4 to 3 pin?
Just so you know the original xbox only used 5.5v fans and you will need to do the 12v fan mod if you plan on running those noctua. Also unless you buy PMW fans they will be 3 pin not 4 pin fans. If the 3 pin header is on the MB then just plug in the 4. It will work fine as the 4th pin is just the pulse control so they will always run at 100% speed. You will still need to do the 12v mod though.

You need to do the 12v mod regardless. Most fans can run on 5.5v but they cannot start on 5.5v.
Purchase that, cut of the male off of both the xbox 360 fan and the splitter cabel. Then solder the fan connector to the splitter cabel.
And that should work as an adapter.
Couldnt I just leave the 4 pin connector on that because the xbox has a 3 pin on the mobo, but no restriction on the pins so i could put that right over it

You need to 12v mod regardless. The fans will not start at 5.5v
