Hello, running on windows 10! This was app was previously able to run everytime I turn it on. I haven’t used it in awhile say (3-5 months) and now it won’t start up. I’ve gone through the steps of deleting it fully thru the local/app and roaming files and then uninstalling it.
I’ve gone and downloaded it through the website and the app files offline like you’ve suggested on other topics. Even whitelisted it from windows defender (its the only antivirus I have) like you’ve suggested.
But it still doesn’t start up. Any other suggestions?
Hey there, apologies for the inconvenience. If you have already followed some of our recommendations on our threads and have had no luck, may we know if your Windows 10 is up to date? Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Moreover, did you also manage to delete the "Squirreltemp" folder while reinstalling the app? You can see this in the "appdata > local" directory.
Also, please check if .NET Framework, DirectX, or Visual C++ Redistributables are installed and updated.
If the above recommendations still do not work, I would suggest running the System File Checker tool. It can help to scan and repair corrupted or missing system files. To do these, open Command Prompt as an administrator and type sfc /scannow. See if it made any changes on your end.
I am facing the same issue and I noticed that files of wemod v9.0.3 is being detected as malware by antivirus such as Avast etc, so I would request the moderator, please check the installer files. could be some false positives or not.
Rest assured, the installer is safe, and it is a false positive. Please be advised that some antivirus programs, including the one mentioned, are pretty aggressive with the app. Maybe try to temporarily disable it, or I’d recommend using a different antivirus software. I personally use Malwarebytes.
Windows is always up to date. They’ve been trying to get me to windows 11 for some time now.
Squirreltemp folder was deleted, along with the “appdata > local and appdata > roaming folders.” Redownloaded but not even the app is recognized. It’s download says there’s 90mbs to download but nothing after that. No shortcut to the app, nothing.
Net framework is already the lateset, DirectX is updated and Visual C++ as well. A system file check says 100% verified and nothing needed to change. I’ve no problems with the app back then as I haven’t changed anything to my PC. This is one my gaming PCs made last year.
I have the same problem, after the May update the application stopped launching, I also went through the entire uninstallation procedure, and then tried to install it again.
As soon as the application writes that you need to download 90 MB, it does nothing, then the installation does not continue
Win 10
Thanks for letting us know. I do apologize if I haven’t been helped much so far. For now, I’ll gather more info and let the team know to ask them for any suggestions that might help.
You can install the app, but it won’t open, correct?
No other Antivirus Software aside from Windows Defender?
Are the processes still visible in the Task Manager when you open it?
Does the issue occur during or after the loading screen?
Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, but could you please find and remove any WeMod-related files from your PC? Also, delete WeMod from the AppData directory and Squirrel from the temp folder. After that, restart your computer and attempt to reinstall.
If the above doesn’t work and you’re still having trouble installing the app, I recommend you visit the thread below, as it contains recommendations from our experienced mod that can definitely help with such installation concerns.
If I install the app thru the website or from another link (the offline one) it pops up the installation screen. (90mbs) and then ends. The offline one just puts the wemod folder into the app/data without any indication that it has installed it. (if that’s intended then idk)
Only have Windows Defender (Which already has it’s folders and exe files whitelisted like you suggested in other topics.
No process of any WeMod application is shown anywhere on task manager.
Issue occurs after installation. Nothing pops up, nothing is updating and nothing is happening.
No windows crash report. Nothing happens. If i delete thru “add or remove programs” it finds the app but that it.
Exactly the same thing for me. I’ve checked all these things as well, installed and reinstalled (with deleting Squirrel and AppData), completely whitelisted, etc etc etc. Still doesn’t run. Just sits at ‘Loading’ with it’s little spinner.
Same issue, but on Win11. Uninstall, delete AppData folder, turn off Malwarebytes, install no message after hitting install. App is there but when run, nothing happens, even while watching Task Manager
“It’s been about 3 weeks and I’ve got nothing. Seems like they’ve strayed from answering or maybe Wemod 9.0.4 or higher will do something they’ve missed.”
Is what I would’ve said about a week or two ago.
Whatever happened on my side ended up fixing the issue and now the app is back. As a pro member I hope communication between the mods/devs improves because there wasn’t any feedback or help here.
Just repetitive answers that didn’t help and then they stopped answering. Thanks for the help anyways.
