I got it working again. Problem was between chair and keyboard and not with WeMod, nor due to a Windows update. It was because of a Norton 360 update. This update had cleared all the whitelisted apps. So I had to whitelist (in Norton 360: ‘Exclude from scans’) folders %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\WeMod and %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\WeMod again.
I had done a ‘clean’ reinstall (which ultimately had not been necessary) with the following steps:
- Removed %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\WeMod
- Removed %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\SquirrelTemp
- Removed %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\WeMod
- Removed all registry keys pointing to ‘WeMod’ (BACK UP THE REGISTRY FIRST!!!)
- Restart PC
- Run WeMod-Setup.exe
- Close WeMod (also in system tray)
- Exclude %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\WeMod and %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\WeMod from Antivirus scans
- Launch WeMod
- Profit
So I think removing the registry keys resolved the issue of the installation errors(?). See WeMod will not install
All the best wishes for 2025!
