@Nordom
That was the point I was making, sorry if my sarcasm was lost through the text.
I too have used Cheat Engine for years with and without other people’s created tables. And you’re right, I too have never received any viruses or even adware like the admin here suggested.
@frank
“No plans to…” doesn’t feed me confidence with WeMod as a program as what “There will not be…”
In fact, it just makes me feel that there is a possibly of it happening.
See how Cheat Engine had the option to decline installing added software from the start, while WeMod doesn’t have that option about sharing this “anonymous reporting” that you claim is only seen by two people.
Also Cheat Engine also offers you a portable version where you don’t even need an installer which doesn’t even have extra software options. There’s a difference between having the option and someone neglecting to read than not having the option and it’s enabled from the get go.
I have four extra buttons on my mouse. And when hotkeyed they displayed as “x1”,“x2”, ect.
Now, you’re asking for my opinion on the matter of advertisement and so I’ll give you mine. Some people may think it’s reasonable to watch advertisement for what they consider a free product, I get the feeling that you do too. I’d agree to some extent but not when my “anonymous” data is helping in some way. And this may or not be true and if you told me it was false, I’d have a hard time believing it without some actual solid evidence but I feel the vast majority of the cheats that you offer are from table that people created for/from cheat engine. Perhaps modified slightly so they work better for the WeMod program but very much on par.
So back to the question of do I feel that it’s unreasonable to watch advertisement for tables that I can access freely and use on a free program that now offers free features that are now restricted on WeMod due to being exclusive to pro members, then yes. I do feel it’s unreasonable.
I can’t remember who made the comment that said pricing is fair. And I think for $5 the price would be fair for that convenience and supporting development. The thing is, that five dollars is only offered if you do an annual payment and monthly payment is something like $7/8. (Prices might be wrong due to conversions, apologies.) I wouldn’t pay that price for a damn coffee. In fact, where I’m from I can get a coffee for $2. And that’s on the expensive side. (The coffee comment is made due to one of the admins comparing it to buying coffee or cigarettes.) I ain’t committing a years subscription to a cheating program that I can get an alternative for free just to shave two dollars for convenience. For a few more dollars I can just subscribe to humble bundle and help out charities instead and be much more rewarded. Like I said though, it’s my opinion and I’m sure some will disagree and some might even agree.
TLDR: Yes, I’d find it unreasonable if you added in advertisement.
